1. MONOLITHIC DOME SURVIVES CATEGORY 5 KATRINA’S FURY “For many days after Katrina, I tried reaching someone in charge at the Dupont plant in Delisle, Mississippi, where last year we had built a 50' x 18' Monolithic Dome specifically as a hurricane shelter. This morning I finally got through to Dupont's engineer, Jack Seybold. He told me that Katrina did more than $100 million of damage to their facility and that this Category 5 hurricane nearly totaled their plant. Through it all, 30 of Dupont's Hurricane Crew -- professionals who assess damage as quickly as possible after a hurricane -- sat secure and comfortable in the Monolithic Dome they originally called the "Hurricane Shelter." That dome now has a new name: The Category 5 Shelter. According to Mr. Seybold, the renaming came about because Katrina convinced the crew that their dome can stand against anything. DeLisle experienced Katrina as a Category 5 hurricane, with embedded tornadoes and a water surge 27 feet high. Water rushed over the dykes and came within 150 feet of the dome. Debris, including uprooted trees, pummeled the dome shell. Mr. Seybold said that, through it all, their Monolithic Dome performed admirably. He said the people inside felt so safe that, several times, they opened the dome's door to get fresh air. He concluded by telling me that early in 2006, Dupont will ask Monolithic to do a presentation for their civil engineers,” quoting Monolithic’s Dome News.

2. IMMUNE CELLS CONNECTED VIA NETWORK OF TUNNELS CALLED NANOTUBULES “Immune system cells are connected to each other by an extensive network of tiny tunnels that, like a building’s hidden pneumatic tube system, are used to shoot signals to distant cells. This surprising discovery, being reported by two University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine researchers in the September issue of the journal Immunity, may explain how an immune response can be so exquisitely swift. The research not only proves cells other than neurons are capable of long-distance communication, but it reveals a hereto-unknown mechanism cells use for exchanging information," quoting the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine News bureau.

3. HYDROGEN TABLET DEVELOPED – IS SAFE STORAGE/TRANSPORT SOLVED? “Scientists at the Technical University of Denmark have invented a technology which may be an important step towards the hydrogen economy: a hydrogen tablet that effectively stores hydrogen in an inexpensive and safe material. With the new hydrogen tablet, it becomes much simpler to use the environmentally-friendly energy of hydrogen. Hydrogen is a non-polluting fuel, but since it is a light gas it occupies too much volume, and it is flammable. Consequently, effective and safe storage of hydrogen has challenged researchers world-wide for almost three decades. At the Technical University of Denmark, DTU, an interdisciplinary team has developed a hydrogen tablet which enables storage and transport of hydrogen in solid form,” quoting Fuel Cell Today.

4. ELEMENT IN OLIVE OILS IS ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AGENT “A naturally occurring chemical found in extra-virgin olive oils is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, report scientists from the Monell Chemical Senses Center and collaborators at the University of Pennsylvania, The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, and Firmenich, Inc. Named oleocanthal by the researchers, the compound inhibits activity of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, a pharmacological action shared by ibuprofen. The finding is significant because inflammation increasingly is believed to play a key role in a variety of chronic diseases. "Some of the health-related effects of the Mediterranean diet may be due to the natural anti-COX activity of oleocanthal from premium olive oils," observes Monell biologist Gary Beauchamp, PhD. The findings are described in the September 1 issue of the journal Nature,” quoting Science Daily.

5. RECYCLE HOMES IN WAKE OF KATRINA “Hurricane Katrina has produced tremendous storm damage and massive devastation all along the coastal regions of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. We have the technology to convert storm debris into construction materials for use in the reconstruction process. We propose to hire, train, and employ men and women that have been displaced by this disaster and are now unemployed as a result of their former businesses or workplaces being destroyed by Hurricane Katrina,” quoting the Prime Environmental International website:

6. QUESTION: “GLOBAL WARMING CAUSE OF INTENSE HURRICANES?” “In recorded history, two storms as powerful as Hurricanes Rita and Katrina have never hit the United States in one season. A coincidence, perhaps, but scientists say ocean temperature could be big factor. ‘If you think of a hurricane like a car,’ explains NASA’s Dr. David Adamec, ‘there are a lot of parts that keep it going, but the sea surface temperature and the heat that is provided by the ocean, that is the gasoline that fuels it.’In the Gulf of Mexico, there is a lot of fuel right now,” quoting NBC News.
link here And Stanford University Magazine says “You’ve heard the alarms about global warming— rising sea levels, catastrophic weather patterns, species disappearing. It could really happen, say Stanford scientists, who are working on a better way forward,” in this story.

7. ANOTHER THEORY ON INTENSE STORMS: THEY ARE MANADE ON PURPOSE “A Pocatello weatherman who gained attention for an unusual theory that Hurricane Katrina was caused by the Japanese mafia using a Russian electromagnetic generator has quit the television station. Scott Stevens' last appearance on KPVI-TV was Thursday [Sept. 22]… Stevens believes a little-known oversight in physical laws makes it possible to create and control storms using a Cold War-era weapon allegedly made by the Russians in 1976. The nine-year KPVI weatherman said he's received 120,000 hits on his Web site in two days, now gets about 100 e-mails a day and has 15 radio bookings in the next five days,” quoting the AP in the Seattle P-I.

8. CANADIANS LEARN FROM US: DISASTER SURVIVAL UP TO INDIVIDUAL “As Americans condemn local, state and federal agencies for their slow response in aiding victims of Hurricane Katrina, Canadians wonder if we would be beset by the same problems were a disaster to strike here…Officials therefore have much work to do, but they're not the only ones. While governments have a duty to protect Canadians from a catastrophic event, individuals also have the responsibility to protect themselves. Indeed, there are many things that government simply can't do, things that Canadians must do for themselves before, during and after an earthquake or other disaster. To begin with, individuals must ensure that we're prepared for an emergency. Government can make all the emergency preparedness plans it wants, but unless individuals and families have their own plans in place, there will be many needless injuries and deaths. Before an emergency, families should develop a "disaster kit" containing food, water, first aid supplies, tools, a battery operated radio, emergency services phone numbers and extra clothing. Families should also inspect their homes to ensure there are no hazards that could cause damage or injury,” quoting the Vancouver, (BC) Sun.

9. AP: “STAPH SUPERBUG BECOMING MORE DANGEROUS IN US” “Three Chicago-area children have died of a toxic shock syndrome-like illness caused by a superbug they caught in the community and not in the hospital, where the germ is usually found. The cases show that this already worrisome staph germ has become even more dangerous by acquiring the ability to cause this shock-like condition. ‘There’s a new kid on the block,’ said Dr. John Bartlett of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, referring to the added strength of the superbug known as methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA,” quoting the AP.

10. DEADLY HUFFING COMPRESSED AIR CANS THE HIGH FOR TODAY’S ADOLESCENTS “While many of the Internet-circulated tales of tragedy prove either to be baseless scaremongering or vastly overblown accounts that contain only a small shred of truth, this one, unfortunately, checks out in every respect,” quoting Urban Legends with several good links at the bottom of the story.

11. IMPORTANT INFO COMING OUT ABOUT CHEMICAL/PLASTIC TOXICITY Bruce Haney shared this Commentary with this writer titled "An Extensive New Literature Concerning Low-Dose Effects of Bisphenol A Shows the Need for a New Risk Assessment" from Environmental Health Persepctives, the following is explained, "Bisphenol A (BPA) is the monomer used to manufacture polycarbonate plastic, the resin lining of cans, and other products, with global capacity in excess of 6.4 billion lb/year. Because the ester bonds in these BPA-based polymers are subject to hydrolysis, leaching of BPA has led to widespread human exposure. A recent report prepared by the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis and funded by the American Plastics Council concluded that evidence for low-dose effects of BPA is weak on the basis of a review of only 19 studies; the report was issued after a delay of 2.5 years. A current comprehensive review of the literature reveals that the opposite is true. As of December 2004, there were 115 published /in vivo/ studies concerning low-dose effects of BPA, and 94 of these report significant effects."
link here Bruce Haney's book Brain Fog was been listed here years ago. "Bruce Haney is an ordinary person who came out of the silent majority to become a recognized expert in the field of behavioral toxicology because of circumstance. Sixteen years ago he found himself horribly misdiagnosed by a then and still disbelieving medical community. An ornamental horticulturist, Mr. Haney had been slowly poisoned by the pesticides he used in his trade. These pesticides and chemicals had invaded his nervous system and brain. A team of doctors, private and state, insisted he simply suffered from extreme anxiety and depression...In 1987, after losing his family and actually living on the street for a time, Bruce was able to prove that brain damage could be caused by chronic exposure to not just pesticides but to a plethora of chemical substances before a federal hearings examiner. Representing himself through most of the legal proceedings, Bruce's case set precedent in the United States," quoting Amazon.com. [Ed. Note: Very enlightneming information.]

| Kleiner's Korner For Week of September 19, 2005
|
Kleiner’s Korner readers have been given many sites addressing the environmental issues this world faces and how the American government has done little to change its disregard of Mother Earth. Whether you hate him or love him, former U. S. President Jimmy Carter weighed in on the subject last week worth your while to read, in a story titled “Arctic Folly” published by the Washington Post.
link here This writer has been called many things recently and added to that list is one who wrote to label me a liberal. Place me in whatever box you must, however Mother Earth knows no liberal from a conservative. Another “liberal-labeled” activist for Mother Nature was awarded the William O. Douglas Award and gave this speech to the Sierra Summit in San Francisco last week:

1. COMMERCIAL AIR SERVICE FOR PUBLIC RESUMES IN NEW ORLEANS Northwest Airlines flight 947 was the first commercial passenger flight to return to New Orleans on September 13, an Airbus A320 from Memphis. The aircraft returned as flight 956 to Memphis as the first commercial flight to leave since Katrina. Relief flights have been flying continuously previous to the airport reopening to paying passengers.

2. TWO STORIES WORTH CONTEMPLATION IN KATRINA’S AFTERMATH “After Katrina, the climate just gets worse and worse” shouted the title to this San Francisco Chronicle story.

3. FORECASTERS INCREDIBLY ACCURATE, DESPITE BUSH REMARKS “For all the criticism of the Bush administration’s confused response to Hurricane Katrina, at least two federal agencies got it right: the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center. They forecast the path of the storm and the potential for devastation with remarkable accuracy. The performance by the two agencies calls into question claims by President Bush and others in his administration that Katrina was a catastrophe that no one envisioned,” quoting MSNBC.

4. “AWARD-WINNING ENGINE POWERED SOLELY BY WATER” “The Federal Laboratory Consortium will recognize DOE's Rocky Mountain Oilfield Testing Center (RMOTC) and Deluge, Inc. with its coveted “Outstanding Technology Development” award for the development and testing of the Thermal Hydraulic Engine, known as the Natural Energy Engine™. This far reaching, innovative technology has been nicknamed the NE Engine™ because it can literally replace any engine. The engine – used to drive an oil pump – operates without fuel or electricity, just hot and cold water. The concept is similar to that of a thermometer. Thermometers rely on the simple principle that a liquid changes its volume relative to its temperature. Liquids take up less space when they are cold and more space when they are warm, hence the liquid in a bulb thermometer rises when the temperature rises, and falls when the temperature cools down. The same principle applies with the NE Engine™,” quoting the US Dept. of Energy Fossil Energy Techline.

5. ARCHAOLOGICAL DISCOVERIES OVERTURN UNDERSTANDINGS OF HISTORY “…The discovery of the Antikythera Device is equivalent to finding a supercomputer on a farm in the 18th century. Archaeological finds that upset our current understanding of history are growing increasingly common. The incredible discovery of six pyramids in Caral, Peru, is a case in point. These structures that surround a huge plaza and circular kivas (no one knows what they were used for) have been reliably dated to 4,700 B.C. That is 400 years before the accepted date of the Great pyramid at Giza. Like the Greek computing device, they are out of place and out of time sequence with our current understanding of history. It was not expected that ancient people in South America built pyramids before the Egyptians,” quoting Phenomena Magazine.

6. ASTRONOMERS FIND GATE TO PARALLEL WORLD “Nature published an article by the Oxford professor Joseph Silk, where he makes a conclusion that there are six dimensions in the universe, i.e. three dimensions which we can sense and another three that we do not notice. For all its fantastic nature the theory of professor Silk turns out the least traumatic for a human mind and the easiest to grasp. The paradoxical theory of super cords that is growing in popularity suggests the existence of additional eight dimensions. No matter how many extra dimensions there are, the fact that they exist is deduced from the strange behavior of the dark matter. These are particles of unknown nature that are still to be discovered but have been already predicted. They constitute 25 percent of our universe. 70 percent of the universe is formed by the so-called dark energy with positive density and negative pressure. Only three to five percent of the universe is the matter of protons, electrons and neutrons that is accessible to us. The mysterious dark matter that consists of particles heavier than proton is invisible to us. It gives itself away when affected by gravitation. A group of scientists from Oxford analyzed the behavior of the dark matter in small galaxies and massive galaxy accumulations. They discovered that the dark matter draws substance in smaller objects, which does not happen in large objects for some reason, although the dark matter should exist there in large quantities according to the analysis of objects' spinning,” quoting Pravda. [Ed. Note: Of course this writer may now get another label listing a link from Pravda, no matter the scientific importance & relevance!].

7. SOME STORE-BOUGHT FISH CONTAIN HIGH MERCURY CONTENT “Store-bought swordfish contained mercury levels above the legal limit in a study released Thursday [Sept. 15] by environmental groups. A University of North Carolina Lab found elevated mercury concentrations in 24 swordfish samples from supermarket chains including Safeway, Shaws, Albertsons and Whole Foods. Groups that paid for the analysis want supermarkets to post signs warning shoppers of health risks from mercury, and they want the government to increase its testing. ‘Americans have a right to know what's in their food, and posting warning signs in grocery stores where these fish are sold is a simple, commonsense solution that fulfills that right,’' said Jackie Savitz of the advocacy group Oceana. Samples were taken from stores in 22 states, including Montana,” quoting the AP. [Ed. Note: This writer has always endorsed eating only fish from far northern climes away from mercury contamination caused by cities burning fuels. Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) has been a leader in bringing this issue forward

8. PACIFIC NW SLIPPING FAULT MAY INCREASE QUAKE RISK “The ground isn't shaking, but a geologic fault in the Pacific Northwest has been silently slipping for the past 11 days — and may be raising the risk of a major earthquake. Scientists at the Geological Society of Canada (GSC) say an earthquake on the Cascadia subduction zone off the coast of Washington, Oregon and Vancouver Island in British Columbia may be up to 30 times more likely over the next two weeks while the unusual seismic event, called "episodic tremor and slip," is under way. Vancouver Island has moved about 0.14 inch westward since seismic instruments first detected the event Sept. 3 on the Olympic Peninsula,” quoting the Seattle Times.

9. STUDY: SMOKING & EYE DISEASES NOW CORRELATED “Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of severe and irreversible vision loss in the Western world. As there is no effective treatment for all types of AMD, identifying modifiable risk factors is of great importance. This review evaluates the epidemiological evidence associating smoking with AMD…The literature review confirmed a strong association between current smoking and AMD, which fulfilled established causality criteria. Cigarette smoking is likely to have toxic effects on the retina. In spite of the strength of this evidence, there appears to be a lack of awareness about the risks of developing eye disease from smoking among both healthcare professionals and the general public,” quoting Nature.com “Eye”

10. GENETIC EVIDENCE SUGGESTS HUMAN BRAIN STILL EVOLVING “There are two new genetic studies that suggest the brain may still be evolving. Geneticist Bruce Lahn of the University of Chicago in Illinois, US, and colleagues analysed the sequences of two genes active in the brain – Microcephalin and ASPM. Both regulate brain size - people carrying a non-functioning mutant copy of these genes suffer microcephaly, where they have a normally structured brain that is much smaller than usual,” quoting New Scientist.

11. DO FETUS STRAY STEM CELLS REPAIR PREGNANT MOTHERS’ BRAIN? “EVERYONE knows that kids get their brains, or lack of them, from their parents. But it now seems that the reverse is also true. Stray stem cells from a growing fetus can colonise the brains of mothers during pregnancy, at least in mice. If the finding is repeated in humans, the medical implications could be profound. Initial results suggest that the fetal cells are summoned to repair damage to the mother's brain. If this is confirmed, it could open up new, safer avenues of treatment for brain damage caused by strokes and Alzheimer's disease, for example,” quoting New Scientist.

| Kleiner's Korner For Week of September 12, 2005
|
Dear Readers,
More people unsubscribed to Kleiner’s Korner in the last week than did during the run-up to George Bush’s re-election. However, many more signups were recorded than unsubscribers last week, too. ”Days To Come” issues are still are the most controversial, after religion and politics. SK-
1. "I DON’T THINK ANYBODY ANTICIPATED THE BREACH OF THE LEVEES.” -PRESIDENT BUSH, SEPTEMBER 1, 2005 OH YEAH???? Read these Mr. President:
“It was a broiling August afternoon in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Big Easy, The City That Care Forgot. Those who ventured outside moved as if they were swimming in tupelo honey. Those inside paid silent homage to the man who invented air-conditioning as they watched TV "storm teams" warn of a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. Nothing surprising there: Hurricanes in August are as much a part of life in this town as hangovers on Ash Wednesday. But the next day the storm gathered steam and drew a bead on the city. As the whirling maelstrom approached the coast, more than a million people evacuated to higher ground. Some 200,000 remained, however--the car-less, the homeless, the aged and infirm, and those die-hard New Orleanians who look for any excuse to throw a party…When did this calamity happen? It hasn't--yet. But the doomsday scenario is not far-fetched. The Federal Emergency Management Agency lists a hurricane strike on New Orleans as one of the most dire threats to the nation, up there with a large earthquake in California or a terrorist attack on New York City,” quoting National Geographic, October, 2004.”
link here “A major hurricane could swamp New Orleans under 20 feet of water, killing thousands. Human activities along the Mississippi River have dramatically increased the risk, and now only massive reengineering of southeastern Louisiana can save the city,” quoting Scientific American, October, 2001.

2. ALL-NATURAL PROPOSAL TO CLEAN UP NEW ORLEANS “EM America is working on combined efforts from all EMRO offices and affiliate offices to supply EM•1® to the areas hit by Hurricane Katrina. If you would like to see Effective Microorganisms used in the Hurricane cleanup, please contact your local representative and let them know…EM•1® is produced in 54 countries (including the USA), all-natural, non genetically modified, and approved for certified organic production under the new USDA program (OMRI Listed). Although originally developed By Dr. Teruo Higa for an alternative to synthetic fertilizers and pest controls, the use of EM Technology has broadened in the last two decades from agriculture to water treatment, odor control, animal husbandry, human health, and numerous industrial treatments,” quoting the EM America website.

3. “GENERAL: GUARD DEPLOYMENT IN IRAQ HURT KATRINA RESPONSE” “The deployment of thousands of National Guard troops from Mississippi and Louisiana in Iraq when Hurricane Katrina struck hindered those states' initial storm response, military and civilian officials said Friday [Sep. 9]. Lt. Gen. Steven Blum, chief of the National Guard Bureau, said that "arguably" a day or so of response time was lost due to the absence of the Mississippi National Guard's 155th Brigade Combat Team and Louisiana's 256th Infantry Brigade, each with thousands of troops in Iraq. ‘Had that brigade been at home and not in Iraq, their expertise and capabilities could have been brought to bear,’ said Blum. Blum said that to replace those units' command and control equipment, he dispatched personnel from Guard division headquarters from Kansas and Minnesota shortly after the storm struck," quoting the AP.

5. FOSSILS IN AMAZON FOUND INDICATING AN INLAND SEA ONCE THERE "Peruvian explorers have discovered the fossilized remains of a giant, 46-foot-(14-meter)-long crocodile deep in the Amazon jungle, lending credence to a theory that the world's largest rain forest was once a huge inland sea, a scientist said on Friday [Sept. 2]. A French-funded expedition of 12 scientists found the remains of the crocodile's huge skeleton, jaw and teeth under the thick undergrowth of Peru's northern jungle which is part of the Amazon basin," quoting Reuters.

6. HOTDOG PRESERVATIVE BEING TRIED IN PATIENT TREATMENTS “Could the salt that preserves hot dogs also preserve your health? Scientists at the National Institute of Health have begun “infusing” patients with sodium nitrite, the same compound used to preserve hotdogs, as a treatment for heart attacks, sickle cell anemia, brain aneurysms, and even cases of pulmonary hypertension in infants, the Associated Press reports. Though scientists have long considered nitrite to be of “little medical relevance,” new findings suggest that small intravenous doses could protect heart, lung, and brain tissues from cell death by dilating blood vessels to allow for improved blood and oxygen flow. Additionally, researchers found that nitrite “interrupts the chain reaction” that leads to tissue death in the heart during a heart attack. NIH researchers have filed for new patents on the use of the preservative and are looking to solicit major pharmaceutical companies to help develop it as a new therapy, though they note that the ‘government will pursue drug development on its own if necessary.’” quoting the AP.

7. FAST FOOD CHAINS POWERING WITH RENEWABLES “The Holland, Inc., owner of Burgerville and Noodlin' restaurants throughout Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington, has committed to use renewable wind power to provide 100% of its electricity needs, both at its chain stores and also at its corporate headquarters in Vancouver. The adoption of wind power for the company's Burgerville restaurants represents the largest national implementation of renewable wind power within a quick-service restaurant chain,” quoting GreenBiz.com.

8. WORKERS WIN BATTLE AGAINST LOUISVILLE, KY. FAST-FOOD GIANT “The Coalition of Immokalee Workers is a community-based worker organization. Their members are largely Latino, Haitian, and Mayan Indian immigrants working in low-wage jobs throughout the state of Florida. They recently won a landmark victory in their national boycott of Taco Bell this March 2005, when amidst growing pressure from students, churches and communities throughout the country, Taco Bell agreed to meet all their demands to improve wages and working conditions for Florida tomato pickers in its supply chain. David Solnit is a direct action organizer, puppeteer, and the editor of "Globalize Liberation: How to Uproot the System and Build a Better World." He is currently involved in organizing and popularizing people power strategies to end the Iraq war and occupation. The March 8, 2005 Taco Bell boycott victory of Immokalee farmworkers and their allies against the biggest fast food corporation on the planet is one of the most significant victories for social movements in the United States in recent history. The victory concretely improves the lives and dignity of Florida's low wage farmworkers. It is also a victory for the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) grassroots, horizontal, innovative, people-power-based organizing model. It is vital for those of us from labor, anti-war, community and global justice struggles to learn from their winning model of organizing,” quoting Truthout.

9. ANOTHER VOLCANO IN MAKING IN THE NORTHWEST??? “A recent survey of a bulge that covers about 100 square miles near the South Sister indicates the area is still growing, suggesting it could be another volcano in the making or a major shift of molten rock under the center of the Cascade Range. Recent eruptions at nearby Mount St. Helens in Washington state have rekindled interest in the annual Sisters survey and its findings,” quoting LiveScience.com.

10. “TALL GRASSES SET TO POWER EUROPE” “The fields of Europe could soon take on a shimmering silver colour as farmers grow giant grasses to try to mitigate the effects of global warming. The latest studies suggest one form of elephant grass would make a productive "energy crop" to be burnt in power stations to generate electricity. Scientists told a Dublin conference the 4m-high Miscanthus needs little fertiliser to produce very high yields,” quoting the BBC.

11. TRUST YOUR OWN KNOWINGNESS – PROVIDED FOR YOUR INFO ONLY! “According to two civilian defense contractor employees working at commercial corporate facilities at Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport (left), in the months before the September 11 attacks U.S. Air Force defense contractors brought in A-3 Sky Warrior aircraft under cover of darkness to be completely refitted and modified at the small civilian airport in Colorado. The revelations are important evidence for a reportedly ongoing secret 9/11 probe because widely available Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) photographs taken during the attacks clearly show that the few aircraft parts found at the Pentagon belonged to a small jet very similar to a modified A-3 Sky Warrior--not the American Airlines Boeing 757,” quoting Tom Flocco. [Ed. Note: Where IS the AA Boeing 757 and her passengers?]
link here “A former Bush team member during his first administration is now voicing serious doubts about the collapse of the World Trade Center on 9-11. Former chief economist for the Department of Labor during President George W. Bush's first term Morgan Reynolds comments that the official story about the collapse of the WTC is "bogus" and that it is more likely that a controlled demolition destroyed the Twin Towers and adjacent Building No. 7. Reynolds, who also served as director of the Criminal Justice Center at the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas and is now professor emeritus at Texas A&M University said, ‘If demolition destroyed three steel skyscrapers at the World Trade Center on 9/11, then the case for an 'inside job' and a government attack on America would be compelling.’ Reynolds commented from his Texas A&M office, ‘It is hard to exaggerate the importance of a scientific debate over the cause of the collapse of the twin towers and building 7,” quoting the Washington Times.

OF LOCAL NOTE "The Port of Olympia Commission has approved a lease between the Port and Weyerhaeuser Company for a 24.5-acre site on the Port peninsula in Olympia for Weyerhaeuser's forest products export facility. The facility is being relocated from Tacoma. The lease is for a five-year term, with options for three consecutive two-year extensions. Start-up is anticipated in the spring of 2006, pending construction of site improvements. The new facility is expected to handle up to 18 export vessels and 30 barges of in-bound logs a year. With the new and on-going business, over 100 million board feet of export wood is anticipated to cross Port docks annually, compared with nearly 41 million in 2004. ‘This lease brings a strong business partner to our community and is a good fit for both the Port and Weyerhaeuser’ said Port Commission President Bob Van Schoorl," quoting the Washington Ports website Press Release.

| Kleiner's Korner For Week of September 5, 2005
|
Dear Readers;
Based on the emails I have received in the last week, many of you are interested in this writer’s comments on the Hurricane Katrina disaster on the Gulf Coast of the USA. In the 4 years since 9/11 this writer has written this tome, I have always given you, the reader, sites from the media that support the claims Mother Earth is under assault by a consumptive and abusive humanity. She is fighting back to rid the sores on her surface the only way she knows how. That was never borne out more clearly to this writer than when I first witnessed my first hurricane in 1973 when Hurricane David changed course and was due to strike my University of Miami apartment within hours and seeing grown men fighting over the last gallon of water on the grocery shelf, or in 1983 when Hurricane Alicia came ashore in Houston as I was promoted and looking for a new home in a city ripped to shreds, or in 1988 when a 6.1 earthquake rocked my San Francisco Nob Hill apartment to the point that the streets were blocked with fallen power lines and brick facades for three days and no trucks could get into the city to replenish the stores.
I had met my grand teacher Ramtha in February, 1986 who had a teaching published that stirred me to the core of my being: Changes: The Days to Come Quoting the JZK, Inc. Publishing website: “Ramtha opens a window that reveals the potential timelines and evolution for humanity already brewing in human consciousness, and explains how they will affect the economy, the Earth, and our society. This is invaluable information that inspires hope and encourages us to change and seek harmony with Mother Nature.”
link here Back in the mid-80’s, I heard Ramtha to say do not take anything he says as truth, rather it is only philosophy until we find out for ourselves and have the experience. Now everything he said two decades ago about Earth changes is a living truth in our lives; from melting ice caps, to shifting magnetic poles, to “hundred-year storms” happening regularly, to Earth’s surface being in chaos. While most of this writer’s friends and family thought I was losing my mind in the late 80’s moving to a country town, storing food, getting off the electric grid, buying gold/silver to back a worthless currency, and planting seeds and canning, many thought this was some "doom and gloom" practice, yet hold that in deep respect today.
Want to know more about Ramtha the Enlightened One and his teachings? See this fabulous introduction:

Bottom line: The government here has proven time and again that they do not have the resources or will to take care of their people, whether the 6 days to get food/water into a battered Miami after Hurricane Andrew or now Katrina. What is evident from this disaster is that our National Guard is so depleted here at home while their majority sit in some desert kingdom in a war no one knows the way out, so the military left here in the USA is being used as a police force in Louisiana, a very troubling sign. Read this from the March 9, 2004 Wall Street Journal about how we are letting our military take over civilian policing duties in the wake of 9/11.

So, as I heard my teacher often say, every time you go shopping, buy an extra can of peas and put it way in the closet. By the end of one year, you will have a whole year’s supply, even if you live in the cities. Mother Nature will continue to attempt to heal herself of her wounds, meaning more and larger natural disasters are in the future. Will you be prepared? Or a victim? The choice is up you as you cannot say you were not given the information to make an educated decision. That info is all there for those who wish to see. Stephen R. Klein
1. “STORM TURNS FOCUS TO GLOBAL WARMING” “Is the rash of powerful Atlantic storms in recent years a symptom of global warming? Although most mainstream hurricane scientists are skeptical of any connection between global warming and heightened storm activity, the growing intensity of hurricanes and the frequency of large storms are leading some to rethink long-held views,” quoting the LA Times. [Ed. Note: KK readers have been reading about this for years. Now, the venerable LA Times is bringing this to the surface!]

2. ‘SOGGY NORTH POLE LIES AHEAD” “Global warming could melt summer Arctic sea ice by the end of the century, scientists say, making for an ice-free North Pole for the first time in more than a million years. With no apparent natural mechanisms to maintain the summer sea ice, the question is no longer whether such melting could happen, but when and with what impact, says a team of researchers led by University of Arizona professor Jonathan Overpeck. The group published its findings in this week’s Eos, the weekly newspaper of the American Geophysical Union,” quoting the Scripps-Howard news Service just days BEFORE Katrina struck the Gulf Coast. [Ed. Note: Think about it? More Earth changes in 100 years than the previous million! HMMM.]

4. JOHN HUTCHINSON’S ANTI-GRAVITY EFFECT “American Antigravity is proud to share this WinMedia clip of the remarkable Hutchison-Effect! The effect, named for legendary Canadian inventor John Hutchison, includes profound Antigravity effects and jellification/melting effects comparable to the fabled Philadelphia Experiment. Hutchison's work has been showcased around the world since the 1980's, and validated by government research scientists hoping to better understand how he's achieved these remarkable results. Thus far, the Hutchison Effect has defied explanation, but may eventually become the basis for both a new type of electrochemisty as well as the long-sought answer for large-scale Antigravity,” quoting the American Anti-gravity website.

5. “NICK COOK MEETS RAMTHA” REPORTED BY TIM VENTURA ON HIS ANTI-GRAVITY SITE Nick Cook, author of Hunt For Point Zero spoke earlier this year at Ramtha's School of Enlightenment. Tim Ventura was invited to attend and met Mr. Cook, as Mr. Ventura's American Anti-Gravity website is based here in Puget Sound. Mr. Cook visited from the UK. Mr. Ventura filed this report.

6. CHILDREN’S PAST LIVES LEARNING CENTER “Many children remember their past lives-spontaneously, without hypnosis or prompting. Some as young as two and still in diapers blurt out, 'I remember when I died before' or 'My other Mommy had curly hair'. They often describe details that they had no way of learning in this life. Only recently have children's past lives been researched and documented. Now we know that these memories happen naturally to young children in all countries of the world, regardless of the beliefs of their parents. They can happen any time to any very young child, but parents often don't notice because they don't know it's possible or don't know what to look for…The Children's Past Lives Research Center is dedicated to spreading awareness of children's past life memories, and to collecting information on the phenomenon. It is currently sponsored by Carol Bowman and her husband Steve, authors of two pioneering books on the subject, Children's Past Lives and Return from Heaven. It is for anyone (not just researchers) who is curious about children's past lives and wants to know more. And it is the only place on the Internet where families with children showing past life memories can share their stories and get advice.

7. “‘OUT-OF-BODY’ EXPERIENCES MAY COME FROM WITHIN” “Psychologists at The University of Manchester are investigating the idea that out-of-body experiences, commonly thought of as paranormal phenomena, may in fact have their roots in how people perceive and experience their own bodies. Around 10% of the population have an out-of-body experience (OBE) at some time, typically involving a sensation of floating and seeing the physical body from the outside. It isn't uncommon for people to have more than one OBE, and they may also occur as part of the wider near-death experience some report experiencing in life-threatening circumstances. Despite the high incidence of OBEs however, there is still a great deal scientists don't know about the phenomenon," quoting the University of Manchester (UK) Press Release.

8. “YOUR BODY IS YOUNGER THAN YOU THINK” From The New York Times comes this story, “Whatever your age, your body is many years younger. In fact, even if you're middle aged, most of you may be just 10 years old or less. This heartening truth, which arises from the fact that most of the body's tissues are under constant renewal, has been underlined by a novel method of estimating the age of human cells. Its inventor, Jonas Frisen, believes the average age of all the cells in an adult's body may turn out to be as young as 7 to 10 years.”

9. STUDY: COFFEE HIGHEST IN ANTI-OXIDANTS IN AMERICAN DIET “Coffee not only helps clear the mind and perk up the energy, it also provides more healthful antioxidants than any other food or beverage in the American diet, according to a study released Sunday [Aug. 28]… The findings by Joe A. Vinson, a chemistry professor at the University of Scranton, in Pennsylvania, give a healthy boost to the warming beverage. ‘The point is, people are getting the most antioxidants from beverages, as opposed to what you might think,’ Vinson said in a telephone interview. Antioxidants, which are thought to help battle cancer and provide other health benefits, are abundant in grains, tomatoes and many other fruits and vegetables,” quoting the AP. [Ed. Note: Some would argue red wine is still the highest.]

10. “’ANTI-AGING HORMONE’ FOUND IN MICE; MAY HELP HUMANS” “Researchers have dramatically increased the life spans of mice by genetically engineering them to overproduce a protein called klotho. Not surprisingly, the discovery has spurred speculation that klotho could help humans live longer. ‘We overexpressed the klotho gene to suppress aging, and we found that the average life span was 20 to 30 percent longer than in control animals,’ said pathologist Makoto Kuro-O, of the University of Texas' Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. The gene regulates production of klotho protein, which the study team says works like an anti-aging hormone. Kotho is involved in the suppression of insulin-signaling pathways—a process that has been shown to increase the life spans of worms and flies,” quoting National Geographic News.

11. SCIENTISTS: MICE REPORTED TO REGENERATE LIMBS, PERHAPS HUMANS, TOO “SCIENTISTS have created "miracle mice" that can regenerate amputated limbs or damaged vital organs, making them able to recover from injuries that would kill or permanently disable normal animals. The experimental animals are unique among mammals in their ability to regrow their heart, toes, joints and tail. And when cells from the test mouse are injected into ordinary mice, they too acquire the ability to regenerate, the US-based researchers say. Their discoveries raise the prospect that humans could one day be given the ability to regenerate lost or damaged organs, opening up a new era in medicine. Details of the research will be presented next week at a scientific conference on ageing titled Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence, at Cambridge University in Britain.” quoting The Australian.

12. PLANT FROM DINOSAUR ERA DISCOVERED "The Wollemi Pine is one of the world's oldest and rarest plants dating back to the time of the dinosaurs. With less than 100 adult trees known to exist in the wild, the Wollemi Pine is now the focus of extensive research to safeguard its survival. By 2005/6 you will be able to assist in the conservation effort by growing your own Wollemi Pine and becoming part of one of the most dramatic comebacks in natural history," quoting the Wollemi Pine International Pty Ltd.

RAMTHA SCHOOL NEWS “I am ecstatic to report that "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" has been nominated for the prestigious Quill Literary awards in two categories - "Business" and "Book Of The Year." This should help spread the word even more. I would love to have you vote for it -- and other books you like,” quoting John Perkins website. Mr. Perkins was a speaker earlier this year at Ramtha’s School Yelm Campus.
link here Mr. Perkins book is very timely with the USA citizen Pat Robertson’s ridiculous assertions against Venezuela’s democratically elected President, a remark that would land any ordinary American in jail labeled a terrorist. His FABULOUS book can be purchased at:
