KLEINER'S KORNER FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 30, 2011
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"I was an employee of the U. S. government charged with supporting and defending the U. S. Constitution." When asked why he thinks he is being charged under the Espionage Act, he said, "to send a message...Do not tell truth to power, we'll hammer you."
"U.S. v. Whistleblower Tom Drake"
Drake, a former NSA senior executive indicted last year for espionage in going public with the truth, in his first television interview, with CBS News 60 MINUTES broadcast May 22, 2011:

1. MEMORIAL DAY - 2011
Monday, May 30 marks Memorial Day this year, when America pauses to honor those that have given their lives in service to their country. The Yelm Community Blog host & Kleiner’s Korner editor/publisher appreciates and honors all of those who have served to defend, protect, and preserve our country from outside invaders. Memorial Day was first called Decoration Day “to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it expanded to include those who died in any war or military action.

E. Introducing "Annabelle and the Domino", the delightful story of a young girl's magical experience of being willing to explore the potential of her mind. A story of inspiration, possibility, determination and focus, Annabelle takes the reader on an intense journey of what is possible and available for all humans when they put their heart and soul into something that matters to them. Written by Elly Molina and illustrated by Loralin Toney.
- Elly Molina and Loralin Toney were both teachers at the former Children's School of Excellence (CSE) in Rainier, WA. This story is inspired by some of the real magic that took place while teaching there.

KLEINER'S KORNER FOR THE WEEKS OF MAY 16 & 23, 2011
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Let us move now from the practical how to the theoretical why:
Why should we love our enemies?
The first reason is fairly obvious.
Returning hate for hate multiplies hate...
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968)
American clergyman, activist, and 1960's African American civil rights movement progenitor.
Quote is from a sermon delivered by Martin Luther King at Montgomery, Alabama's Dexter Avenue Baptist Church on Christmas of 1957.

A. "Quake shifted Japan; towns now flood at high tide"
"The March 11 earthquake that hit eastern Japan was so powerful it pulled the entire country out and down into the sea...

'We thought this slippage would happen gradually, bit by bit. We didn't expect it to happen all at once,' says Testuro Imakiire, a researcher at Japan's Geospatial Information Authority, the government body in charge of mapping and surveys.

Imakiire says the quake was powerful enough to move the entire country, the first time this has been recorded since measurements began in the late 19th century. In Tokyo, 210 miles (340 kilometers) from Ishinomaki, parts of the city moved 9 inches (24 centimeters) seaward."

KLEINER'S KORNER FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 9, 2011
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
"In war, truth is the first casualty."
Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
Greek tragic dramatist

And:
"The United States Is 'The Greatest Purveyor of Violence in the World Today'
“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968)

At New York City's Riverside Church in 1967 outlining his opposition to the Vietnam War. link here

Ed. Note: These quotes originally appeared here within the last year, yet are worth a repeat, as last week's changing story lines on the murder of Osama bin Laden were like shifting sands and a true embarrassment for all Americans at such folly from The White House.

1. OBAMA GETS OSAMA
The changes to the the stories coming from The White House last week on the circumstances surrounding the death of Osama bin Laden were disheartening, to say the least. We have all been witness to the outright lies from the previous administration (i.e. Pat Tillman's death), however I really hoped President Obama would direct differently, based on what seemed to be a sincere man during the campaign. Wishful thinking! I have come to terms with the fact that the Cabal above the U. S. President is so strong, that no matter who is elected, our President is nothing more than a puppet. See things as they are.....
.

2. THESE STORIES PULL BACK THE CURTAINS OF THE CHARADE FOISTED ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THE WORLD
- Mike Barnes on NBC's Morning Joe:
"They killed a man who changed the way we live in this country."

- "Exclusive: 'Bin Laden Dead' Hoax Exposed"
From Alex Jones: link here

- "Radley Balko writes: "Yes, Bin Laden the man is dead. But he achieved all he set out to achieve, and a hell of a lot more. He forever changed who we are as a country, and for the worse. Mostly because we let him. That isn't something a special ops team can fix."

- "Michael Moore: 'Bin Laden Was Executed'"
By Brent Lang, TheWrap
Excerpt: "Look at the Nuremberg Trials. We didn't just pop a bullet in the heads of the worst scum in history. We thought it was important to put them on trial and expose their evil. In a democracy we believe in a system of justice and we believe in a judicial system that gives people a day in court ... and then we hung them." - Michael Moore
link here

- "What Has Bin Laden Wrought?"
Ray McGovern, Consortium News: "The circumstances surrounding the targeted killing of bin Laden remind us how far the United States has strayed from its principles. Though clearly bin Laden represented an extreme case - as the leader of an international terrorist organization that has slaughtered thousands of innocent people - his killing was not unique.
