5. BENEFICIAL STUDIES SHOW PROMISE
A. "OMEGA-3s PROTECT HEART BY SLOWING CELLULAR AGING: STUDY"
"Heart patients have long been told to eat a diet rich in fish, nuts and other sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Now, researchers think they know exactly why the diet is so beneficial...

Telomeres are the caps on the ends of chromosomes that protect the valuable genetic material within. There's growing evidence that telomere length is a marker for biological age, so that long telomeres are a sign of younger, healthy cells, and short telomeres are a sign of either normal aging, or premature aging caused by disease and poor lifestyle.

For this latest study, Dr. Ramin Farzaneh-Far, of the University of California, San Francisco, and colleagues measured omega-3 fatty acid levels in the blood of more than 600 patients with stable heart disease. They then compared those levels to changes over five years in telomere length in leukocytes, a type of blood cell.

They found that those with the highest levels of omega-3 fatty acids in their blood had the longest telomeres," from Canada's CTV: link here

B. "MAGNESIUM SUPPLEMENT HELPS BOOST BRAIN POWER"
"Neuroscientists at MIT and Tsinghua University in Beijing show that increasing brain magnesium with a new compound enhanced learning abilities, working memory, and short- and long-term memory in rats. The dietary supplement also boosted older rats' ability to perform a variety of learning tests.

6. "IS THERE SUCH A THING AS LIFE AFTER DEATH?"
"Is there life after death? Theologians can debate all they want, but radiation oncologist Dr. Jeffrey Long says if you look at the scientific evidence, the answer is unequivocally yes. Drawing on a decade's worth of research on near-death experiences — work that includes cataloguing the stories of some 1,600 people who have gone through them — he makes the case for that controversial conclusion in a new book, Evidence of the Afterlife. Medicine, Long says, cannot account for the consistencies in the accounts reported by people all over the world. B. MEET PATRICK HENRY HUGHES OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY
"Patrick Henry Hughes (born March 10, 1988) is an American multi-instrumental musician from Louisville, Kentucky who was born without eyes and unable to fully straighten his arms and legs, making him unable to walk.
His father, Patrick John Hughes, introduced him to the piano at the age of nine months. Patrick has studied piano in the years since and later began the study of trumpet.

Patrick Henry's national fame began in 2006 while a student at the University of Louisville. At the suggestion of Louisville's marching band director, Dr. Greg Byrne, Patrick Henry joined the marching band, playing trumpet while his father pushed him in his wheelchair through the marching routines.

Hughes graduated from Atherton High School, where he participated in the International Baccalaureate program and was a member of National Honor Society. THE NATION PAUSES JANUARY 18TH TO REMEMBER THE LEGACY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

"Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American clergyman, activist and prominent leader in the African-American civil rights movement. His main legacy was to secure progress on civil rights in the United States, and he has become a human rights icon: King is recognized as a martyr by two Christian churches. A Baptist minister, King became a civil rights activist early in his career. He led the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, serving as its first president. King's efforts led to the 1963 March on Washington, where King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech. There, he raised public consciousness of the civil rights movement and established himself as one of the greatest orators in U.S. history.

In 1964, King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other non-violent means. By the time of his death in 1968, he had refocused his efforts on ending poverty and opposing the Vietnam War, both from a religious perspective. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977 and Congressional Gold Medal in 2004; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was established as a U.S. national holiday in 1986," quoting Wikipedia. link here

A. HAITI OFFICIALS WARNED BY SCIENTISTS IN 2008 OF QUAKE POTENTIAL
"Scientists who detected worrisome signs of growing stresses in the fault that unleashed this week's devastating earthquake in Haiti said they warned officials there two years ago that their country was ripe for a major earthquake.

Their sobering findings, presented during a geological conference in March 2008 and at meetings two months later, showed that the fault was capable of causing a 7.2-magnitude earthquake — slightly stronger than Tuesday's 7.0 quake that rocked the impoverished country," quoting the AP.

2. IS EUROPE'S BIG FREEZE A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME?
A. "NORTH MAGNETIC POLE MOVING DUE TO CORE SHIFT"
Highly respected National Geographic reported, "Earth's north magnetic pole is racing toward Russia at almost 40 miles (64 kilometers) a year due to magnetic changes in the planet's core, new research says.

The core is too deep for scientists to directly detect its magnetic field. But researchers can infer the field's movements by tracking how Earth's magnetic field has been changing at the surface and in space.

Now, newly analyzed data suggest that there's a region of rapidly changing magnetism on the core's surface, possibly being created by a mysterious "plume" of magnetism arising from deeper in the core.

And it's this region that could be pulling the magnetic pole away from its long-time location in northern Canada, said Arnaud Chulliat, a geophysicist at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris in France." link here

"Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura aired a program on Apocalypse 2012 via truTV Wednesday night [Jan. 13], featuring the alleged role of Denver International Airport (DIA). According to Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura, Apocalypse 2012 will be heralded by massive solar flare activity (which supposedly agrees with some NASA scientific predictions from 2006) which will severely cripple much of the power grid that will leave over 100 million people in America without electricity, water, etc.

On Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura, it was purported that the government is preparing for Apocalypse 2012 by building lots and lots of bunkers for the powerful, the rich, and other elite people. The rest of us peons will be left to fend for ourselves allegedly. The former pro wrestler was featured on 9NEWS in Denver to discuss alleged conspiracies centering around DIA...

But Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura showed other interesting aspects of DIA that raise questions: Why is there a Freemason symbol as well as the words "New World Airport Commission" on the building plaque? Why is there a mural in plain sight of passengers that signifies the end of
the world via a solar flare at Denver International Airport? What's that eerie-looking gargoyle-in-luggage sculpture doing being on open display at this airport?" quoting Associated Content posted January 13, 2010. link here

B. "NEW SHOW ADDRESSES DIA CONSPIRACY THEORY"
"Ventura even says there is much to uncover here in the Mile High City, too. He explains that in Denver "there's something underneath that new airport." By this, he is referring to the infamous conspiracy theories about Denver International Airport possibly being the site of a New World Order organization.

'...I'll tell you, it's a strange airport,' Ventura said.

Ventura cites a dedication plaque at Denver International Airport as being evidence of the conspiracy. His concern is not the presence of the governor's name or other prominent officials (such as former Denver mayor Federico Peña) that are listed on the plaque.

'But on the bottom, it says the New World Airport Commission. That doesn't exist. You can't find it. Why wouldn't it say the Colorado Airport Commission, the Denver Airport Commission, or maybe the county? "Martin Luther King, Jr. (15. Januar 1929 - 4. April 1968) war ein amerikanischer Geistlicher, Aktivist und prominenter Führer in der Afro-Amerikanischen Bewegung für Bürgerliche Rechte. Sein größtes Vermächtnis war die Sicherstellung der Fortschritte der bürgerlichen Rechte in den Vereinigten Staaten, und er ist eine Ikone der Menschenrechte geworden. Zwei christliche Kirchen betrachten King als Märtyrer. King, ein Geistlicher der Baptisten-Kirche, wurde in seiner Karriere früh Aktivist für bürgerliche Rechte. 1955 führte er den 'Montgomery Bus Boykott' und half 1957, die Southern Christian Leadership Conference zu gründen und diente als deren erster Präsident. Kings Bemühungen führten in 1963 zum Marsch nach Washington, wo King seine "Ich habe einen Traum" Rede hielt. Aber 'Verschwörungstheorie mit Jesse Ventura' zeigte andere interessante Aspekte des Denver International Airports (DIA), die Fragen aufwerfen: Warum gibt es dort am Gebäude eine Plakette mit dem Freimaurer-Symbol, sowie den Worten "New World Airport Commission" ? Warum gibt es im Flughafen von Denver ein Wandgemälde, das bildlich beschreibt - wie jeder Passagier sehen kann - dass das Ende der Welt durch Sonneneruptionen entstehen wird? Warum wird in diesem Flughafen eine unheimlich-aussehende Wasserspeier-Statue in einem Koffer öffentlich ausgestellt?", aus Associated Content am13. Januar 2010:

"In 1993, Tom Van Flandern, (US Naval Observatory) directed the Celestial Mechanics Branch of the Nautical Almanac Office. "Following up on a visit from FBI officials about an eyewitness account first described to MLive.com, Michigan attorney Kurt Haskell described the visit in comment sections across MLive on Wednesday.

Haskell and his wife, Lori, were aboard Flight 253 when Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab allegedly tried to destroy the plane. They say another man tried to help Abdulmutallab board the plane in Amsterdam.

Child pornography concerns
Ian Dowty, a lawyer with Action on Rights of the Child, said allowing minors to pass through the scanners violates child pornography laws. "It shows genitalia," he said. "As far as English law is concerned ... it's unlawful if it's indecent."

For that reason, British authorities have exempted under-18s from body scan trials at places including Paddington Station in London as well as Heathrow and Manchester airports...

Body scanners that peer underneath clothing have been available for years, but privacy advocates say they are a "virtual strip search" because they display an image of the body onto a computer screen...

Passengers go through the scans instead of a metal detector, although they can elect to receive a pat-down search from a security officer instead...

6. THE BOOK 'MELTDOWN' EXPLAINS HOW THE HOUSING BUBBLE WAS PLANNED & EXECUTED
A. "But an easy-money policy lures increasingly reckless or ill-prepared investors into the game, and misleads people into thinking a particular investment strategy is a no-lose proposition. Cheap money draws people into speculation, who know little about the money involved, and who see it an irresistible get-rich-quick scheme.
And in fact, even without the added incentives introduced by new laws and regulations, an easier monetary policy by the Fed in and of itself encourages the lowering of lending standards. (page 27)...

B. More and riskier loans are what the government wanted. Fashionable opinion everywhere, especially throughout the government sector, cheered as traditional lending practices were abandoned and riskier ones adopted - why, the American dream is being extended to more and more people.
And it wasn't just the democrats - not by a long shot. In 2004 George W. Bush urged the Federal Housing Administration to lift the down-payment requirement altogether for 150,000 new homeowners...
The down-payment, which had traditionally served to minimize defaults, was being swept aside by the president himself, and thus the trend away from traditional lending standards received a presidential imprimatur." (page 29)

C. And as usual, more of what caused the problem in the first place has been put forth as the solution. Alan Greenspan lowered interest rates to 1 percent for a full year, thereby intensifying the housing bubble and the pain that its inevitable burst would cause. As of late 2008, Fed chairman Ben Bernanke was aiming to bring interest rates down to just about zero (he did). We are in for more resource misallocation and a more intense bust in the future. Greenspan tried to inflate his way out of a recession in 2000 and 2001 [Ed. Note: And was called a genius by many.], and the result was the worst one we face now. By trying to hold off this one, the Fed promises us a future that is worst still.
Economist Gerald O'Driscoll, the former senior Fed official, compares the Fed to "an arsonist watching the fire he set, expressing amazement at how such an event could have happened."

Anfang des Jahres 2010 erkennen viele, dass viele Dinge einfach nicht in Ordnung und wahrscheinlich ominöser sind als wir wissen. Einige Leser werden vielleicht manche Artikel in dieser Ausgabe der Kleiners Korner als tiefsten Pessimismus betrachten, aber ich sage immer: "Wissen zu haben bedeutet, gerüstet und gewappnet zu sein". Darf ich also vorschlagen, dass jene Leser, die sich nicht für derartige Berichte interessieren, die vorliegende Kleiners Korner Ausgabe einfach löschen. Haskell hatte zwei ausführliche Mails in zwei verschiedenen Artikeln", aus der Detroit News.

Ich betrachte alle von der Regierung freigegebenen Kommentare über ein gerade festgenommenes Individuum als erfunden, eine falsche Story für die Massen. Habt ihr gemerkt, dass der sogenannte, angebliche 253 Terrorist keine Kommentare abgab, sobald ihm ein Pflichtverteidiger zugeteilt wurde? :

Aber, nehmen wir doch den Passagiern mehr Rechte weg und mal sehen, wie weit die Regierung kommt mit Freiheitsbeschränkungen, denn genau diese Sicherheitssysteme der Regierung werden ja nicht befolgt!

Die Passagiere gehen durch die Scans anstatt durch einen Metalldetektor, jedoch können sie wählen, stattdessen von Sicherheitsbeamten abgetastet zu werden.

Ist das Kinder-Pornographie?
Ian Dowty, ein Rechtsanwalt für 'Action on Rights of the Child', sagte, wenn man Minderjährige durch die Scanner laufen ließe, würde es gegen Kinder-Pornographie-Gesetze verstoßen. "Sie zeigen Genitalien", sagte er. In bezug auf britische Gesetze......ist es ungesetzlich, wenn nicht unanständig".

Aus diesem Grund haben britische Authoritäten die unter-Achtzehnjährigen von den Body Scan Tests befreit, an solchen Orten wie Paddington Station in London und in den Heathrow und Manchester Flughäfen....

B. Die Regierung wollte riskantere Anleihen. Die allgemeine Meinung, besonders im ganzen Regierungssektor, jubelte, als die traditionellen Kreditpraktiken aufgegeben und riskantere eingeführt wurden -
weil dann der American Dream mehr und mehr Menschen erreichte.
Und das waren nicht nur die Demokraten - überhaupt nicht. In 2004 drängte George W. Bush die Bundeswohnungsbaubehörde, die Anzahlungsratenpflicht für 150,000 neue Hausbesitzer vollkommen aufzuheben.....
Die Anzahlungspflicht, deren Zweck traditionsgemäß war, Nichtzahlungen zu verringern, wurde vom Präsidenten selbst zur Seite gefegt, und so erhielt der Trend von traditionellen Kreditstandarden abzukommen die Präsidenten-Imprimatur". (Seite 29)

C. Und, wie gewöhnlich, die Lösung sollte sein: Mehr von dem, was das Problem überhaupt verursacht hatte. Alan Greenspan setzte die Zinsraten ein ganzes Jahr lang auf ein Prozent, wodurch die Immobielien-Blase intensiviert wurde, und auch die Probleme, die deren Platzen unvermeidlich verursachen würde. Ende 2008 war das Ziel des Fed Direktors, Ben Bernanke, die Zinsraten bis auf ungefähr null herunter zu bringen (das tat er auch). In der Zukunft blühen uns weitere schlechte Ressourcenverteilungen und ein intensiverer Zusammenbruch. Greenspan versuchte in 2000 und 2001, durch Inflation aus der Rezession herauszukommen.
Anm. d. Verf.: (Und viele nannte ihn ein Genie), und das Resultat war eine schlimmere Rezession, in der wir gerade stecken. Indem sie versucht, sie zurückzuhalten, gibt uns die Fed eine noch schlimmere Zukunft.
Ökonom Gerald O'Driscoll, ehemals Senior Fed Beamter, vergleicht die Fed mit "einem Brandstifter, der das Feuer beobachtet, das er angezündet hat, aber erstaunt ist, dass so etwas geschehen konnte".
