KLEINER'S KORNER FOR WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 30, 2007
Dear Readers;

Thank you for your kind messages of thanks and support about last week’s KK. I received several requests on how to start and where to begin a task that looks so daunting – changing a mindset to prepare for emergencies:

Yes, all of this is daunting to most, so that's why there is an "Ostrich approach with heads in the sand" mentality by most. Anyone can see that the way FEMA handled the Katrina victims will mean we can expect no help from the government. We must take care of ourselves.

However, to no longer be at the effect of things one MUST begin somewhere.

Here is how I started as an apartment dweller on Nob Hill in San Francisco some 20 years ago:
1. Store Water: NOT tap water, bottled water, etc. Get large storage containers and store pure well water right out of the ground. Find someone that checks the purity of their well, and ask to have some water.

2. Store Food: I started with buying an extra can every time I went to the store and storing it on my shelves. Then I purchased flats of peas, corn, beans. I purchased every time I went to Costco. Store in your closet, as did I. EVERY time you go to the store buy something for long-term storage. I listed two long-term food sellers a few weeks back - Survivialcenter & happyhovel.com

3. Buy at least five gold 1 oz. (about $4,000 today) coins & silver and keep at home in a safe place.

4. When able, buy a small plot of land in the country (5 acres if you can) to grow your own food, have a well for water, and a safe place to retreat to. Build a small, safe structure, preferably in the ground.

5. Buy non-electric tools and place on your land. Things you will use to grow food, etc.

6. Store seeds in a cool, dark, dry place. Seeds of every kind, including items not currently growing where you reside.

7. Buy winter clothes, underwear, warm socks, and plenty of boots & shoes, hats & gloves, and store them.

8. Have a 3-month supply of cash in bills $20 and under in a safe place at your home.

If you can't do all of those things, do what you can, as you can, even if just one can every time you go to the store.

Major thing is to get out of the cities as fast as you can. They will be places to avoid very soon.

None of this is advice, rather what I learned from my Teacher, Ramtha. I knew in my soul what he said was the correct path for me, no matter how daunting the road ahead to do all of this looked. And I was living a comfortable life on Nob Hill in San Francisco with a view. SK-

1. CBS NEWS: “SAVING THE SEEDS OF TOMORROW” “With the current rapid clip of mass extinctions, botanists around the world are working to preserve the seeds of important medicinal and food plants in seed banks. Sandra Hughes reports,” quoting CBS News. [Ed. Note: How many years has Ramtha been suggesting to save all sorts of seeds? 20+. Now this has made mainstream news. This is an eye-opener!] link here .

2. SCIENTISTS: “PARALLEL UNIVERSES REALLY DO EXIST” “Science fiction looks closer to becoming science fact, reports Roger Highfield.
Parallel universes really do exist, according to a mathematical discovery by Oxford scientists that sweeps away one of the key objections to the mind boggling and controversial idea….
Commenting in New Scientist magazine, Prof Andy Albrecht, a physicist at the University of California, Davis, said of the link between probability and many worlds: "This work will go down as one of the most important developments in the history of science."
Quantum mechanics describes the strange things that happen in the subatomic world - such as the way photons and electrons behave both as particles and waves. By one interpretation, nothing at the subatomic scale can really be said to exist until it is observed.
Until then, particles occupy nebulous "superposition" states, in which they can have simultaneous "up" and "down" spins, or appear to be in different places at the same time.
According to quantum mechanics, unobserved particles are described by "wave functions" representing a set of multiple "probable" states. When an observer makes a measurement, the particle then settles down into one of these multiple options.
But the many-worlds idea offers an alternative view. Dr Deutsch showed mathematically that the bush-like branching structure created by the universe splitting into parallel versions of itself can explain the probabilistic nature of quantum outcomes. This work was attacked, but it has now had rigorous confirmation by David Wallace and Simon Saunders, also at Oxford,” quoting UK’s Independent. link here

3. “U. S. STUDY FINDS POTENTIAL NEWS WAYS TO FIGHT AGING” “Researchers said on Thursday they had found more ways to activate the body's own anti-aging defenses -- perhaps with a pill that could fight multiple diseases at once.
Their study, published in the journal Cell, helps explain why animals fed very low-calorie diets live longer, but it also offers new ways to try to replicate the effects of these diets using a pill instead of hunger, the researchers said.
The key is a family of enzymes called sirtuins. They are controlled by genes called SIRT1, SIRT2 and so on,” quoting Reuters. link here

4. FRIENDSHIP NEWS NETWORK RUN BY STUDENTS This writer and his wife were introduced to this grand organization two weeks ago when we were in Washington, D.C. Quoting form their website:
“Friendship News Network, FNN is a media enterprise run by students. Of course, there’s guidance from teachers and mentors-- all with professional experience in the field of journalism.
Students may choose to join the staffs of FNN TV, FNN Radio, FNN Online or Rated-T Magazine. Located at Friendship Public Charter School in Washington DC, FNN is free and open to any student between the ages of 11 and 18.” link here

5. I DID NOT KNOW; DO YOU? ANOTHER REASON TO BEWARE OF BOTTLED WATERS "Do any bottled water brands contain fluoride?
Yes. There are over 20 companies that produce fluoridated brands of bottled water currently available to consumers today. As a matter of fact, some of these brands are sold nationwide in stores, like Walmart, and some members of IBWA will even ship their fluoridated brands nationwide," quoting Bottled Water.org. link here

6. NASA: “CAVE SKYLIGHTS SPOTTED ON MARS” “NASA's Mars Odyssey spacecraft has discovered entrances to seven possible caves on the slopes of a Martian volcano. The find is fueling interest in potential underground habitats and sparking searches for caverns elsewhere on the Red Planet,” quoting NASA. link here .

7. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! "The EPA has begun closing its nationwide network of scientific libraries, effectively preventing EPA scientists and the public from accessing vast amounts of data and information on issues from toxicology to pollution. Several libraries have already been dismantled, with their contents either destroyed or shipped to repositories where they are uncatalogued and inaccessible. Members of Congress have asked the EPA to cease and desist," quoting the Union of Concerned Scientists. [Ed. Note: Is the Bush Administration hiding documents to prevent lawsuits after they leave D. C.? HMMM!]

8. “TESTICLE STEM CELL HARVEST PLAN” OUCH! “A man's testicles might be a source of stem cells to help him fight serious diseases, US scientists have shown. They extracted early-stage sperm cells from mice, then turned them into cells capable of becoming different tissues.
Writing in Nature, the Weill Cornell Medical College team said their work might lead to treatments for illnesses such as Alzheimer's and diabetes. However, some doubt has been expressed on the willingness of men to undergo the procedure to extract the cells,” quoting the BBC. link here
.

9. USE BLUE-TOOTH, WI-FI, & CELL PHONES? THINK AGAIN! A. “GERMANY WARNS CITIZENS TO AVIOD USING WI-FI” “People should avoid using Wi-Fi wherever possible because of the risks it may pose to health, the German government has said.
Its surprise ruling - the most damning made by any government on the fast-growing technology - will shake the industry and British ministers, and vindicates the questions that The Independent on Sunday [Sept. 9] has been raising over the past four months.
And Germany's official radiation protection body also advises its citizens to use landlines instead of mobile phones, and warns of "electro-smog" from a wide range of other everyday products, from baby monitors to electric blankets,” quoting the UK’s Independent. link here
B.“ARE YOUR CELLPHONES AND LAPTOP BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH?” “For decades concerns have been raised about the health effects of "extremely low frequency" fields that are produced by electrical equipment or power lines. People living close to large power lines or working next to heavy electrical equipment are spending a lot of time in electromagnetic fields generated by those sources. Others of us can be exposed briefly to very strong fields each day.
But in the past decade suspicion has spread to cell phones and other wireless technologies, which operate at frequencies that are millions to tens of millions higher but at low power and "pulsed."
Then there's your cell phone, laptop, or other wireless device, which not only receives but also sends pulsed signals at high frequencies. Because it's usually very close to your head (or lap) when in use, the fields experienced by your body are stronger than those from a cell tower down the street.
A growing number of scientists, along with a diverse collection of technology critics, are pointing out that our bodies constantly generate electrical pulses as part of their normal functioning. They maintain that incoming radiation from modern technology may be fouling those signals,” quoting Alternet. link here
C. DID A CELLPHONE CAUSE THESE TUMORS? UNKNOWN, HOWEVER MORE EVEIDENCE POINTING THAT WAY DAILY! "My sister was a Realtor who was frequently on her cell phone with clients and the office. A few years ago she developed a large brain tumor. It was on the side of her head closest to where she holds her cell phone.
People believe what they want to believe and don't like their conveniences stepped on. Two years later, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had to have her thyroids removed," quoting Yelm area resident Neil Kaber in the Nisqually Valley News.

10. THINK ABOUT IT – TAKING A SEGWAY CROSS COUNTRY! Sent to this writer by a KK reader as a gift, my wife & I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD:
"10 MPH is a comical documentary that follows a pair of aspiring filmmakers as they quit their jobs and turn a friend's ludicrous idea into a movie.
The impulsive purchase of a two-wheeled Segway scooter sets this story in motion when the two friends decide to travel from Seattle to Boston at 10 MPH in an attempt to change their lives forever...
What ensues is a road trip like none other with a haphazard cast of characters you could only find on a zany 100-day trek through America’s back roads. Each poignant story the two friends discover along the way inspires a craving inside to go out and do that thing you're supposed to do," quoting 10 MPH's website. link here
.

11. OF NOTE: NEWS IN OUR GOVERNMENT A. YES! WE STILL HAVE A JUDGE THAT FOLLOWS THE CONSTITUTION! “A federal judge in Oregon ruled Wednesday [Sept. 26] that crucial parts of the USA Patriot Act were not constitutional because they allowed federal surveillance and searches of Americans without demonstrating probable cause.
The ruling by Judge Anne L. Aiken of Federal District Court in Portland was in the case of Brandon Mayfield, a lawyer in Portland who was arrested and jailed after the Federal Bureau of Investigation mistakenly linked him to the Madrid train bombings in March 2004.
‘For over 200 years, this nation has adhered to the rule of law - with unparalleled success," Judge Aiken's opinion said in finding violations of the Fourth Amendment prohibitions against unreasonable search and seizure. "A shift to a nation based on extraconstitutional authority is prohibited, as well as ill advised,’” quoting The New York Times. link here
B. COLLECTING OF DETAILS ON TRAVELERS DOCUMENTED “The U.S. government is collecting electronic records on the travel habits of millions of Americans who fly, drive, or take cruises abroad, retaining data on the persons with whom they travel or plan to stay, the personal items they carry during their journeys, and even the books that travelers have carried, according to documents obtained by a group of civil liberties advocates and statements by government officials.
The personal travel records are meant to be stored for as long as 15 years, as part of the Department of Homeland Security's effort to assess the security threat posed by all travelers entering the country,” quoting the Washington Post. [Ed. Note: Where is someone like by Judge Anne L. Aiken saying this is in violation of the Fourth Amendment prohibitions against unreasonable search and seizure?] link here
C. “IRAQ WAR VETERAN RETURNS MEDALS IN PROTEST” “A march to the Wisconsin state Capitol Wednesday [Sep. 26] ended with an Iraq war veteran's returning his military medals to protest the war.
As about 100 protesters watched, Josh Gaines, 27, put the medals in a mailbox, sending them back to former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld…The Madison man said he's giving the medals back because he did nothing to deserve them and the war was a strategic mistake… Gaines said he hopes his gestures will enable other Iraq war veterans to come out and ‘speak the truth about what's going on in Iraq,’” quoting WESH-TV2 (NBC) in Winter Park, FL. [Ed. Note: This man is my hero!] link here
D. “IRS LOSES CHALLENGE TO PROVE TAX LIABILITY” “The Internal Revenue Service has lost a lawyer's challenge in front of a jury to prove a constitutional foundation for the nation's income tax, and the victorious attorney now is setting his sights higher…
‘The Founding Fathers intentionally restricted the taxing powers of the new federal government as a measure of restraint on its size. By exceeding that limited taxing authority the federal government has been able to obtain resources beyond its intended reach, and that money has enabled the federal government to exceed its authority,’ he said.
For example, he said, the Constitution does not empower the federal government to regulate education, or employment, and agriculture, yet it does so,” quoting WorldNetDaily. link here
Here is what Wikipedia says about the case: link here
[Ed. Note: Here comes the disclaimer. For those of you wanting to try this, Kleiner's Korner is not responsible for any action you take reading anything here. This story here is NOT an endorsement to engage this path. Obtain proper counsel and always trust your own knowingness.]
E. SCOTT RITTER: "IRAQ WILL HAVE TO WAIT" "The highest priority for the antiwar movement in America today must be the prevention of a war with Iran. The strategic objectives should include getting Congress to repeal the war-powers authorities currently on the books, thereby forcing the president to seek new congressional approval for any new war. Likewise, a concerted effort must be undertaken to counter the disinformation being spread by the Bush administration and others about the nature of the Iranian threat," quoting Mr. Ritter in Truthdig. "A former Marine Corps intelligence officer who served under Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf during the 1991 Persian Gulf War, Scott Ritter worked as a chief inspector for the United Nations Special Commission in Iraq from 1991 until 1998, helping lead the effort to disarm Iraqi weapons of mass destruction." link here And, this interesting blog piece titled ""Lost" B-52 nuke cruise missiles were on way to Middle East for attack on Iran" sent in by a KK reader: link here

12. WEEK’S FINANCIAL NEWS OF NOTE A. MORE CAPITAL LEAVING USA. “Big foreign firms [I.E. Bayer, British Airways] bid adieu to U.S. markets” quoting USA Today. link here
B. FED’S POPULAR LOWER INTEREST RATES JUST DELAYS THE INEVITABLE BELT TIGHTENING! “Last week the Fed shifted its emphasis from fighting inflation to preventing panic. Was that the right call? Certainly it was the popular call,” quoting NEWSWEEK. [Ed. Note: Popular for USA’s stock market; not popular for investment here. The American public will soon find out how the debt load is sinking this country and there is no meaningful change in our run-away debt.] link here
C. “MAXED OUT” “When he took office in 2001, the federal budget was in surplus and the National Debt was $5.7 trillion. The debt is now just under $9 trillion and growing.” “The national debt limit has been raised several times during George W. Bush’s presidency," from USA Today: link here
D. HMMM! WHY DID YOU NOT HEAR ABOUT THIS ON CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC & FOX? From Forbes Magaznine of Friday, September 28, the last business day of the quarter, "Gold exceeded earlier highs, surging to its highest point since 1980 as fund buying accelerated amid record low dollar values and another new peak for oil prices in London.
The dollar plunged to a new all time low against the euro above 1.42 usd amid continued speculation the Fed will have to cut rates further to prop up the ailing US economy...
Oil reached a fresh all-time high in London, breaking this morning's record on extended dollar weakness, increased fund buying and expectations for strong demand going into the fourth quarter...
Among other precious metals, silver was up at 13.69 usd an ounce from 13.55 usd yesterday [Sept. 27]...
'Silver still has the potential to rally in the coming sessions given the bullish mood in gold and platinum, as silver is viewed as a cheaper alternative,' said TheBullionDesk.com analyst James Moore...
Platinum rose to a new year high of 1,375 usd an ounce, topping yesterday 1,361 usd peak, before retreating slightly to 1,373 usd. The metal is underpinned by by rising investment and industrial demand, and tight supply." link here

KLEINER'S KORNER FOR WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 24, 2007
Dear Readers;

Six years ago this week, I received so many requests to wade through the media frenzy in the wake of 9/11, that Kleiner’s Korner (KK) was born. Because of your encouragement and my desire to share what I read, several thousand of you the world-over partake in stories not making mainstream news. To that end, I have received several requests in recent days to dispense news about the world economic situation and ensuing ram-ifications. Therefore, this week’s KK is dedicated to bringing some clarity to what is being said, and what is not being said.
Thank you so much for your interest, your letters & your discernment. I have enjoyed every moment.
Now, your first Kleiner's Korner of year number 7.

Steve Klein

1. FORMER FEDERAL RESERVE CHIEF SAYS IRAQ WAR ABOUT OIL A. TELLS EUROPEAN MEDIA IRAQ WAR WAS ABOUT OIL “AMERICA’s elder statesman of finance, Alan Greenspan, has shaken the White House by declaring that the prime motive for the war in Iraq was oil. In his long-awaited memoir, to be published tomorrow [Sept. 17], Greenspan, a Republican whose 18-year tenure as head of the US Federal Reserve was widely admired, will also deliver a stinging critique of President George W Bush’s economic policies. However, it is his view on the motive for the 2003 Iraq invasion that is likely to provoke the most controversy. ‘I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil,’ he says,” quoting the UK Times.
link here
B. TELLS AMERICAN MEDIA OIL NOT PRIMARY MOTIVE Then, he tries to shuffle out of the aforementioned statement in USA’s media, “Greenspan, who wrote in his memoir that ‘the Iraq War is largely about oil,’ said in a Washington Post interview that while securing global oil supplies was ‘not the administration’s motive,’ he had presented the White House before the 2003 invasion with the case for why removing the then-Iraqi leader was important for the global economy. ‘I was not saying that that’s the administration’s motive,’ Greenspan said in the interview conducted on Saturday. ‘I’m just saying that if somebody asked me, ’Are we fortunate in taking out Saddam?’ I would say it was essential,’” quoting MSNBC. [Ed. Note: PULEEZ, spare me the psycho-babble. Hey, I do not make this stuff up; these are mainline media reports!] link here

2. FORMER FEDERAL RESERVE CHIEF SAYS “HE MISSED” SUBPRIME CRISIS, “FAULTS BUSH OVER SPENDING” “Now he has written his memoir, "The Age of Turbulence," which comes out just as he's coming under fire -- something he's not used to -- for today's housing and lending crises. His critics say he established a pattern of bailing out Wall Street investors.
Greenspan sat down with correspondent Lesley Stahl for his first major interview, defending himself against the criticism that he should've done something to stop the shady practices in subprime lending. In a rare admission, he told 60 Minutes he missed its significance,” quoting CBS News 60 Minutes. link here [Ed. Note: Exactly why the economic management of the publics' money needs to be returned to the People, as mandated by the Constitution of the United States. Do you think for a minute I believe the crisis in the economy we have today does not lie at his hand? This writer has said to buy gold for years, because we continue to allow the talking heads at the Federal Reserve to determine what our dollar is worth everyday – and they have eroded it to pennies. By the way, the word "federal" in Federal Reserve means nothing, since this is not an official branch of the U. S. government, rather a private corporation like Federal Express, both having the Federal government as clients.]

6. “GOLD HITS 28 YEAR HIGH…” “Spot gold rose more than one percent to hit a 28-year high at $730,20 an ounce on Thursday [Sept. 20] on safe-haven buying and a slide in the dollar to record lows against the euro,” quoting Mining Weekly.” link here Follow gold’s meteoric rise: link here Then click “Multi-Year Gold” in the category you desire, especially 1985-2007. 7. BUYING GOLD ? A. COINS We may be nearing the last chance for the public to readily find gold, as investors flee paper instruments and head to metals. IMHO, the best gold to own is a .9999 pure, one-ounce gold coin like the Canadian Maple: link here or the American Buffalo: link here The American Double Eagle has an alloy for strength, yet is a full 1oz.
link here Remember, anonymity is key. Best to pay cash upon purchase (usually a coin shop), do not give your name or credit card and keep stored in a safe place other than a bank. Banks have been nationalized and closed, barring access to “safety deposit boxes.” When gold was recalled in 1933, numismatic coins (collectibles) were not included in the recall. If history is prologue, that is in our favor. That does not mean that numismatic coins would be exempted in a future gold recall. This link has a good definition of what coin collectors are looking for in a collectible coin. [Ed. Note: This link is provided for informational purposes only, and is NOT an endorsement of this company.] link here
B. “GOLD’S NEW PROSPECTORS” “Owning gold during times of uncertainty can be reassuring… ‘Gold has never been traditionally a way to make money, it's been a way to preserve wealth,’ Winmill said. Still, with gold starting 2007 at $630 an ounce, it's up about 12 percent for the year. Compare that with the Standard & Poor's 500-stock index, the stock market benchmark favored by many professionals, which is up about 2.5 percent for the year,” quoting The Washington Post. link here
C. FOOD & WATER THE FUTURE GOLD As covered here many times previously, food and pure drinking water will be more valuable than gold. When Costco is joining the preparedness game, you know something is up. Preparedness is now a "profit center" for many companies: link here
.

8. SIMPLE EXPLANATION ABOUT DOLLAR’S PLUNGE & WHAT IT MEANS “The dollar sank to a record low against the euro Thursday and traded at parity against the Canadian currency for the first time since 1976. The greenback's latest plunge to more than $1.40 to the euro was triggered by the Federal Reserve's half-point interest rate cut earlier this week... But lower interest rates make the dollar — and dollar-denominated stocks and bonds — less attractive to global investors. The sinking dollar already is sending ripples through the economy, and worse conditions could lie ahead. 'There's still plenty of downside there. We don't really know how far it's going to fall,' says economist Nigel Gault of Global Insight,” quoting USA Today.

9. OMINOUS SIGN IF SAUDI ARABIA SELLS USA HOLDINGS Amazing that I found this story nowhere in the USA media, yet is one of the most ominous for the USA, while the stock market surges last week. Are USA’s investors myopic and just wanting a quick buck, missing every storm cloud building?
“Saudi Arabia has refused to cut interest rates in lockstep with the US Federal Reserve for the first time, signalling that the oil-rich Gulf kingdom is preparing to break the dollar currency peg in a move that risks setting off a stampede out of the dollar across the Middle East…
‘This is a very dangerous situation for the dollar’" said Hans Redeker, currency chief at BNP Paribas. ‘Saudi Arabia has $800bn (£400bn) in their future generation fund, and the entire region has $3,500bn under management. They face an inflationary threat and do not want to import an interest rate policy set for the recessionary conditions in the United States,’ he said. The Saudi central bank said today that it would take "appropriate measures" to halt huge capital inflows into the country, but analysts say this policy is unsustainable and will inevitably lead to the collapse of the dollar peg. As a close ally of the US, Riyadh has so far tried to stick to the peg, but the link is now destabilising its own economy,” quoting UK’s Telegraph. [Ed. Note: This bears watching! This is not over... AND THIS OPPOSING VIEW FROM FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 “Saudi Arabia's dollar-pegged riyal rose to a near seven-month high against the US currency yesterday after the world's largest oil exporter said it would hold back from matching a US interest rate cut. But Standard Chartered Middle East economist Steve Brice said Saudi Arabia was unlikely to break the peg to the dollar. ‘At the end of the day Saudi interest rates cannot be higher than their US dollar counterparts as this would merely encourage speculation,’ said Brice,” quoting the Gulf Daily News (Bahrain). 10. USA IN DEFAULT UNLESS CONGRESS RAISES DEBT CEILING - A SLAM DUNK! “Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson told Congress on Wednesday [Sept. 19] the government will hit the current debt ceiling on Oct. 1. He sought quick action to increase the limit, saying it was essential to protect the "full faith and credit" of the country, especially at a time of financial market turmoil. The limit is $8.965 trillion. Unless Congress votes to raise it, the country would be unable to borrow more money to keep the government operating and to pay debt obligations coming due. The United States has never defaulted on a debt payment but the decision on whether to raise the debt ceiling often means a prolonged battle in Congress,” quoting USA Today. [Ed. Note: So as not to be in default, Congress keeps moving the goal posts, yet biting the bullet on USA’s debt just is not in the cards. If the public did that on their debt year after year, they’d have to declare bankruptcy or go to jail. So, Congress will approve the debt ceiling and the Fed. will keep the printing presses burning rubber. This country’s wealth is a paper tiger, IMHO because Congress has no will to reign in spending, so the largest creditor nation in the 50's is now the largest debtor nation.] link here MORE DEBT AS BUSH TO REQUEST $200 BILLION MORE FOR HIS WAR

11. REPORT: IMPEACH BUSH/CHENEY MARCH This writer and his wife were among 100,000 participants in the march to take a petition of impeachment from The White House to the Congress on Capitol Hill on Sat., Sept. 15. Funny, the media said there were only 10’s of thousands there. They do not want the rest of the country to know of the huge outpouring for this petition. Here our live interview from Washington, DC (recorded that day) on Beyond the Ordinary internet radio (scroll down to September 15, 2007):

12. FINALLY – A REPORTER SPEAKS UP ABOUT THE CORP. OWNED MEDIA “Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather says the $70 million lawsuit he filed Wednesday (Sept. 19) against his former employer is an effort to strike a blow against political and corporate influence that he believes threatens the independence of American journalism.
‘This is the right stand, at the right time, about the right issue,’ Rather told CNN's Larry King Thursday night, in his first TV interview since filing the suit. ‘We have to, somehow, get back to integrity in the news and somehow at least alleviate, if not eliminate, these big corporate and big government pressures’" ‘You can't have freedom of the press if you're going to have large, big corporations and big government intruding and intimidating in newsrooms. The chilling effect on investigative reporting is going to be something we don't want to see,’ he said,” quoting CNN. link here
[Ed. Note: Let’s see, do you REALLY think the Wall Street Journal is going to remain the fine newspaper that it is under new buyer Murdock? The reason that President Bush has not been impeached is that newspapers do cursory investigative journalism today. When we were passing the Watergate Complex in D. C. last week, I thought how eavesdropping on a presidential opponent’s records forced a President to resign just before impeachment, yet eavesdropping on the American public at large has garnered no such reaction from Congress. There are NO likes of Woodward & Bernstein today. It’s all sound bites that interrupt reality shows and Spears/Hilton/Pitt/Cruise, et al antics. This writer is applauding the courage of Dan Rather. At this point, he has nothing to lose.]
AND THIS: “The nation’s biggest telecommunications companies, working closely with the White House, have mounted a secretive lobbying campaign to get Congress to quickly approve a measure wiping out all private lawsuits against them for assisting the U.S. intelligence community’s warrantless surveillance programs,” quoting Newsweek. [Ed. Note: Oh my Gawd!] link here

BOTTOM LINE The perfect storm is brewing: A. A trashed dollar on the world scene and getting worse. B. Ignorant investors still playing for greed in the hyper-inflated stock market. C. Massive USA debt, lowest savings rate by public. D. A credit crisis created by greed and a fast buck in the housing industry, with a massive foreclosure rate ahead in the next 12 months. E. Investors in the know adding precious metals in their portfolios, pushing metals to 28 year highs. F. More debt from a President drunk on his Iraq War. G. Drumbeats for an Iran War front. H. Food shortages because of global warming. I. Investigative journalism a thing of the past as corp. owned media focus on profits from reality tv. J. USA's major debt holders looking at dumping their holdings and dollars. K. Public concern about the economy causing a spending slowdown and potential recession. L. Congress that does little to reign in spending and will authorize another debt ceiling increase. M. Gasoline heading for new heights. N. A Federal Reserve causing a meltdown in foreign USA investments to stimulate credit in USA.
And add in the great unknown - A Mother Nature caused effect on the economy from an earthquake, hurricane, tornado, flooding, severe cold, volcano, tsunami or ice melt. This is not some doom and gloom, rather signs in the news daily that should cause people to change habits and prepare themselves and their families - for their government will not come to their rescue, rather aiding the downfall.

The finding gives hope that if Mars or other frigid worlds ever supported life similar to these ancient bacteria, they might be alive still. The trick, the discovery suggests, is for organisms to keep some metabolism going over the millennia, so that they can keep their DNA in repair while awaiting a more favorable environment in which to multiply,” quoting Live Science. link here .

3. YOU’LL LOVE THIS – LIBERALS’ BRAINS WIRED DIFFERENTLY “Exploring the neurobiology of politics, scientists have found that liberals tolerate ambiguity and conflict better than conservatives because of how their brains work.
In a simple experiment reported today [September 10] in the journal Nature Neuroscience, scientists at New York University and UCLA show that political orientation is related to differences in how the brain processes information. Previous psychological studies have found that conservatives tend to be more structured and persistent in their judgments whereas liberals are more open to new experiences. The latest study found those traits are not confined to political situations but also influence everyday decisions” quoting the LA Times. link here And, ABC News spin on this story: link here

So much ice has melted this summer that the Northwest passage across the top of Canada is fully navigable, and observers say the Northeast passage along Russia's Arctic coast could open later this month. The FDA found "reasonable assurance" the device was safe, and a sub-agency even called it one of 2005's top "innovative technologies." But neither the company nor the regulators publicly mentioned this: A series of veterinary and toxicology studies, dating to the mid-1990s, stated that chip implants had "induced" malignant tumors in some lab mice and rats. ‘The transponders were the cause of the tumors,’ said Keith Johnson, a retired toxicologic pathologist, explaining in a phone interview the findings of a 1996 study he led at the Dow Chemical Co. in Midland, Mich,” quoting the AP on ABC News.

The CDC's National Center for Health Statistics said in a report that a child born in the United States in 2005 can expect to live 77.9 years, up from 77.8 in 2004 and continuing a rise dating back decades. John Kanzius happened upon the discovery accidentally when he tried to desalinate seawater with a radio-frequency generator he developed to treat cancer. He discovered that as long as the salt water was exposed to the radio frequencies it would burn.
The discovery has scientists excited by the prospect of using salt water, the most abundant resource on earth, as a fuel,” quoting CBS News.

ARE USA ELECTION VOTES SAFE? “Worried about a string of reported vulnerabilities, Debra Bowen, California's secretary of State, had asked computer scientists at the University of California to conduct a "top to bottom" analysis of the thousands of touchscreen electronic voting machines in use in the Golden State... What did the study reveal? "Things were worse than I thought," says Bowen. "There were far too many ways that people with ill intentions could compromise the voting systems without detection."... The studies show that these machines are basically poison," says Avi Rubin, a Johns Hopkins computer-science professor and voting-security expert," quoting Newsweek.

B. BOOK: “LETTERS TO A CHRISTIAN NATION” Ed. Note: One of the most compelling books this writer has read on religious dogma in the world. Change the name to any religion. Author Sam Harris writes, "Thousands of people have written to tell me that I am wrong not to believe in God. The most hostile of these communications have come from Christians. This is ironic, as Christians generally imagine that no faith imparts the virtues of love and forgiveness more effectively than their own. The truth is that many who claim to be transformed by Christ’s love are deeply, even murderously, intolerant of criticism. While we may want to ascribe this to human nature, it is clear that such hatred draws considerable support from the Bible. How do I know this? The most disturbed of my correspondents always cite chapter and verse." Order yours today: link here

3. “GERMAN SCIENTISTS CLAIM TO HAVE BROKEN LIGHT-SPEED BARRIER” “German scientists claim to have broken the light-speed barrier, which could blow away the known limitations of modern networking, but the technology is unlikely to make it into a product — if at all — until most administrators working today have retired.
Exceeding the speed of light, approximately 300,000km per second, is supposed to be completely impossible. According to Einstein's special theory of relativity, it would take an infinite amount of energy to accelerate an object through the light barrier. But two German physicists claim to have forced light to overcome its own speed limit using the strange phenomenon known as "quantum tunnelling".
Gunter Nimtz, one of the physicists from the University of Koblenz, told New Scientist magazine: "For the time being, this is the only violation of special relativity that I know of."
However, the scientists' claims should be treated with some scepticism until they have been investigated by the wider scientific community, according to Dr Kevin McIsaac, an analyst at Sydney-based firm IBRS, who holds a PhD in theoretical atomic physics,” quoting UK’s ZD Net. link here

4. GREEN ENERGY TAKING HOLD A. “UK’S FIRST WAVE FARM PROJECT ANNOUNCED” Ocean Power Delivery Ltd has developed a novel offshore wave energy converter called Pelamis. Building on technology developed for the offshore industry, the Pelamis has a similar output to a modern wind turbine. The first fullscale pre-production prototype has been built and is being tested at the European Marine Energy Centre in Orkney.
It is anticipated that future `wave farm' projects would consist of an arrangement of interlinked multi-machines connected to shore by a single subsea cable. A typical 30MW installation would occupy a square kilometre of ocean and provide sufficient electricity for 20,000 homes. Twenty of these farms could power a city such as Edinburgh," quoting Ocean poer Delivery, LTD. link here

6. “AUSTRALIA FINDS ‘MISSING LINK’ FOR OCEAN CURRENTS” “Australian scientists have discovered a giant underwater current that is one of the last missing links of a system that connects the world’s oceans and helps govern global climate.
New research shows that a current sweeping past Australia’s southern island of Tasmania toward the South Atlantic is a previously undetected part of the world climate system’s engine-room, said scientist Ken Ridgway.
The Southern Ocean, which swirls around Antarctica, has been identified in recent years as the main lung of global climate, absorbing a third of all carbon dioxide taken in by the world’s oceans,” quoting Reuters. link here

‘It's going to be a big deal and everybody's going to know about it,’ said Mark Bedau, chief operating officer of ProtoLife of Venice, Italy, one of those in the race. ‘We're talking about a technology that could change our world in pretty fundamental ways — in fact, in ways that are impossible to predict,’” quoting the AP. link here

8. "POPE TO YOUTH: SAVE PLANET 'BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE'" "Pope Benedict, leading the Catholic Church’s first “eco-friendly” youth rally, on Sunday [Sep. 2] told up to half a million people that world leaders must make courageous decisions to save the planet “before it is too late.”
'A decisive ’yes’ is needed in decisions to safeguard creation as well as a strong commitment to reverse tendencies that risk leading to irreversible situations of degradation,' the 80-year old Pope said in his homily.
Intentionally wearing green vestments, he spoke to a vast crowd of mostly young people sprawled over a massive hillside near the Adriatic city of Loreto on the day Italy’s Catholic Church marks it annual Save Creation Day," quoting Reuters. [Ed. Note: Too little, too late from a Holy Mother Church that has done more in the last 2,000 years to separate people from their own divinity than any other organization, in addition to murdering millions in the name of God and denying scientific discoveries for eons. Why, this Church still has not exonerated Giordano Bruno, who "completely abandoned the idea of a hierarchical universe. The Earth was just one more heavenly body, as was the Sun. God had no particular relation to one part of the infinite universe more than any other. God, according to Bruno, was as present on Earth as in the Heavens, an immanent God, the One subsuming in itself the multiplicity of existence, rather than a remote heavenly deity," quoting Wikipedia. 9. TOWN RENEWS ITSELF WITH ECOTOURISM" "For decades, the Austrian town of Gussing was a forgotten outpost not far from the rusting barbed-wire border of the Iron Curtain.
Now it's at the edge of a greener frontier: alternative energy. Gussing is the first community in the European Union to cut carbon emissions by more than 90 percent, helping it attract a steady stream of scientists, politicians and eco-tourists.
"This was a dead-end town and now we're the center of attention," said Maria Hofer, a lifelong resident, as she bought organic vegetables at a farmer's market. "It seems like every week we read about new jobs from renewable energy."
Gussing's transformation started 15 years ago when, struggling to pay its electricity bill, the town ordered that all public buildings would stop using fossil fuels. Since then, Gussing has fostered a whole renewable energy industry, with 50 companies creating more than 1,000 jobs and producing heat, power and fuels from the sun, sawdust, corn, and cooking oil.
Signs reading "Eco-Energy Land" greet people entering the town, located 130 kilometers, or 80 miles, southeast of Vienna. Visitors are as diverse as Scottish farmers, Japanese investors and a delegation from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe," quoting Bloomberg News in the International Herald Tribune August 29th edition. link here

10. ORGANIC FARMING MAKING MAJOR INROADS A. "HOME GROWN" "Does that tired tomato from the grocery store come close to the color, flavor or nutritional value of a juicy, vine-ripened beauty from the farmers' market? There's no contest. Do you worry about pathogens in your supermarket spinach, or about antibiotics, mercury, melamine or even formaldehyde in the food chain? When we don't know where our food comes from, or what went into it, we can't control what gets into us. C. ORGANIC FARMING CAN FEED THE WORLD A new University of Michigan study indicates that organic farming is more productive than chemical and energy intensive industrial agriculture. Researchers noted 293 examples in previous studies that corroborate the fact that organic farming is better than conventional, but pointed out that biased studies funded by chemical producers have clouded the public's understanding of the issue. Corporate agribusiness has spent decades repeating the mantra that chemical intensive agriculture is necessary to feed the world. But according to the new report, "Model estimates indicate that organic methods could produce enough food on a global per capita basis to sustain the current human population, and potentially an even larger population, without increasing the agricultural land base." Ivette Perfecto, a professor at the University of Michigan, said of the study, "My hope is that we can finally put a nail in the coffin of the idea that you can't produce enough food through organic agriculture." 12. PRESIDENT BUSH IN THE NEWS A. Keith Olberman of MSNBC's Countdown gives a riveting op-ed piece titled "Bush just playing us with 'troop withdrawal'" saying "As he deceived the troops at Al-Asad Air Base yesterday with the tantalizing prospect that some of them might not have to risk being killed and might get to go home, Mr. Bush probably did not know that, with his own words, he had already proved that he had been lying, is lying and will be lying about Iraq. He presumably did not know that there had already appeared those damning excerpts from Robert Draper's book “Dead Certain."
'I'm playing for October-November,' Mr. Bush said to Draper. That, evidently, is the time during which, he thinks he can sell us the real plan, which is 'to get us in a position where the presidential candidates will be comfortable about sustaining a presence.'
Comfortable, that is, with saying about Iraq, again quoting the President, 'stay... longer.'
And there it is. We've caught you." link here
B. “UNLEASHING THE RESISTANCE” “Today we have not even a shadow of the Nixon or Clinton era political and media power competition. Instead, we see only unbalanced power, unbalanced perspective, unbalanced minds. KLEINER'S KORNER FOR WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 3, 2007
To all KK Readers worldwide,

“Labor Day is a United States federal holiday that takes place on the first Monday in September. The holiday began in 1882, originating from a desire by the Central Labor Union to create a day off for the "working man". It is still celebrated mainly as a day of rest and marks the symbolic end of summer for many. Labor Day became a national holiday by Act of Congress in 1894,” quoting Wikipedia. link here

’Labor Day differs in every essential way from the other holidays of the year in any country,’ said Samuel Gompers, founder and longtime president of the American Federation of Labor. ‘All other holidays are in a more or less degree connected with conflicts and battles of man's prowess over man, of strife and discord for greed and power, of glories achieved by one nation over another. Labor Day...is devoted to no man, living or dead, to no sect, race, or nation,” quoting the US Dept. of Labor website. link here

Kleiner’s Korner acknowledges all laborers worldwide this day, for through our toils is the world a better place!

1. PRODUCER OF "AMERICA: FROM FREEDOM TO FASCISM" AARON RUSSO PASSES "Aaron Russo, who managed Bette Midler and went on to produce such films as "Trading Places," has died. He was 64. Russo died from cancer before dawn on Friday [Aug. 24], surrounded by family at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center [Los Angeles], said Heidi Gregg, his girlfriend of more than two decades. Russo had been battling the disease for nearly six years, she said," quoting ABC TV 7 in New York. link here "Aaron's long list of achievements includes his work in the areas of filmmaking and political activism. His documentary film, "America: From Freedom to Fascism", debunked the justification of both the IRS and the Federal Reserve as well as exposed their crooked basis. This movie received widespread acclaim, including opening to standing ovations at the Cannes Film Festival. Congressman Ron Paul was also featured in the documentary, in which he presents his views on the economy and the Federal Reserve," quoting the Freedom to Fascism website. link here [Ed. B. "What would happen if a massive earthquake and tsunami were to strike the West Coast of the United States? Experts say it could easily match the catastrophic 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami in scale and might. A 700-mile stretch of coast, from northern California to southern British Columbia lies just off the extremely volatile Cascadia Subduction Zone. Many seismologists say that after more than 300 years of massive pressure build-up, it is likely to erupt in the not too distant future." If you miss the airings, DVD for sale here: link here Airs Tuesday at 7am & 1pm PDT
C. "Could a killer earthquake strike America's heartland? If history proves true, the answer is yes. The 1811-1812 New Madrid Earthquakes (centered in southeast Missouri) rank as some of North America's most catastrophic natural disasters. Stretching more than 160 miles, a system of earthquake faults lurks beneath the Mississippi River basin, loaded and ready to erupt." 3. THE POWER OF WOMEN OR THE MOST POWERFUL WOMEN Forbes Magazine has just released their list of the 100 most powerful women in the world: “For the second year in a row, Angela Merkel, the first woman to become chancellor of Germany, ranks No. 1 on our list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women… Meanwhile, China's vice premier, Wu Yi (No. 2), continues to help lead a government that oversees an economy whose gross domestic product may soon eclipse Germany's, making it the third-biggest economy in the world... Our ranking system starts with a list of women who have crossed certain thresholds. Most of them run companies, governments or nonprofits, or are very close to the top. A handful have established power bases in other ways (an entertainment entrepreneur, a judge and an author have been on the list). The power ranking score is based on a composite of visibility (measured by press citations) and economic impact.”

4. LARGEST KNOWN VOID IN UNIVERSE DISCOVERED “The universe has a huge hole in it that dwarfs anything else of its kind. The discovery caught astronomers by surprise. The hole is nearly a billion light-years across. It is not a black hole, which is a small sphere of densely packed matter. Rather, this one is mostly devoid of stars, gas and other normal matter, and it's also strangely empty of the mysterious "dark matter" that permeates the cosmos. Other space voids have been found before, but nothing on this scale. Astronomers don't know why the hole is there. ‘Not only has no one ever found a void this big, but we never even expected to find one this size,’ said researcher Lawrence Rudnick of the University of Minnesota,” quoting Space.com.

5. “FARMING THE CONCRETE JUNGLE” “The Food Project is part of a growing urban agriculture movement to improve access to quality food in cities by creating local sources of fresh produce. The movement is showing that sustainable, local food systems are not only a way to ensure food security but also a means of addressing social justice issues. And the movement is getting stronger. Community urban agriculture programs are gaining support from city governments desperate to increase green space and capitalize on public interest in environmental responsibility. As In These Times went to press, the 2007 farm bill had passed in the House of Representatives with a $30 million appropriation for community food projects. ‘The biggest crisis in our food system is the lack of access to good, healthy, fresh food, for people living in cities, particularly in low-income communities,” says Anna Lappé, co-founder with her mother Frances Moore Lappé of the Small Planet Institute. “Urban agriculture work is one of the most powerful solutions, because it brings food directly into the communities,’” quoting In These Times.

6. WHY YOU & YOUR FAMILY MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER REAL MILK [Ed. Note: This writer and his wife were recently introduced to the idea of real milk and non-pasteurized dairy products. We found local channels for quality products and love the rich flavor we remember as children.] “Back in the 20s, Americans could buy fresh raw whole milk, real clabber and buttermilk, luscious naturally yellow butter, fresh farm cheeses and cream in various colors and thicknesses. Today's milk is accused of causing everything from allergies to heart disease to cancer, but when Americans could buy Real Milk, these diseases were rare. In fact, a supply of high quality dairy products was considered vital to American security and the economic well being of the nation. What's needed today is a return to humane, non-toxic, pasture-based dairying and small-scale traditional processing, in short . . . “A Campaign for Real Milk”

7. EARTH’S “NITROGEN OVERDOSE “ "I call it the biggest global change that nobody has ever heard of, Weiss said at the spring event. The planet has never seen this much nitrogen at any time. Human activity now releases 125 million metric tons of nitrogen from agricultural activities and fossil fuel combustion a year, compared to 113 million metric tons annually from natural sources, according to a 2007 United Nations report called Human Alteration of the Nitrogen Cycle.
In 1860, the U.N. report noted, there was virtually no release from human activity. The consequences of this spike, the report added, are profound.
Not only is this glut of nitrogen disrupting ecosystems, polluting waters and harming human health, but its a silent partner, along with carbon dioxide, in changing the Earths climate.
Despite the countless initiatives under way to reduce CO2 levels to slow global warming, scientists warn that those efforts will prove moot unless nitrogen releases also are lowered.
One nitrogen compound is especially worrisome, as it lingers in the atmosphere for a century and is 300 times as potent a heat-trapping gas as carbon dioxide.
‘We won't solve global warming without addressing nitrogen,’ said Elizabeth Holland, a senior scientist with the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo.," quoting Inside Bay Area. link here

8. SCIENTISTS: 10 MINUTES ON A CELLPHONE CAN TRIGGER BRAIN CHANGES “Mobile phones can take as little as ten minutes to trigger changes in the brain associated with cancer, scientists claimed yesterday [Aug. 29]. They found even low levels of radiation from handsets interfere with the way brain cells divide. Cell division encourages the growth of tumours. Although the researchers did not come up with evidence that mobile phone signals are harmful, the findings suggest they could be. Several major studies have also found no link between mobile use and brain tumours, nor a dramatic rise in cancer rates. But campaigners insist the discovery undermines official advice that the devices are safe. The guidance is based on the assumption that the phones emit too little radiation to heat the brain dangerously. However, the new study by the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel suggests "nonthermal" radiation could pose a risk,” quoting UK’s Daily Mail.

9. “LEARN FROM THE FALL OF ROME, US WARNED” "The US government is on a ‘burning platform’ of unsustainable policies and practices with fiscal deficits, chronic healthcare underfunding, immigration and overseas military commitments threatening a crisis if action is not taken soon, the country’s top government inspector has warned.
David Walker, the comptroller general of the US, issued the unusually downbeat assessment of his country’s future in a report that lays out what he called “chilling long-term simulations”.
These include “dramatic” tax rises, slashed government services and the large-scale dumping by foreign governments of holdings of US debt.
Drawing parallels with the end of the Roman empire, Mr Walker warned there were “striking similarities” between America’s current situation and the factors that brought down Rome, including “declining moral values and political civility at home, an over-confident and over-extended military in foreign lands and fiscal irresponsibility by the central government”...
Mr Walker’s views carry weight because he is a non-partisan figure in charge of the Government Accountability Office, often described as the investigative arm of the US Congress," quoting the Financial Times. [Ed. Note: This writer has said the same thing here for 6years! People call that prognostication "doom and gloom." Now this is from comptroller general of the US.]

10. AMERICA, THE DRUGGED! A. “PAINKILLER USE RISING AT ALARMING RATE” “Retail sales of five leading painkillers nearly doubled over an eight-year period, reflecting a surge in use by patients nationwide who are living in a world of pain, according to a new Associated Press analysis of federal drug prescription data... The amount of five major painkillers sold at retail establishments rose 90 percent between 1997 and 2005, according to Drug Enforcement Administration figures,” quoting the AP. [Ed. Note: Does the public really need all of this pain medication or do the drug manufacturers program doctors and patients to rely on these medications?] link here
B. “...SCIENTISTS FIND WAYS TO DRUG TEST CITIES” “University of Washington and Oregon State Researchers say they have found a way to determine the amount of illegal drug use in any particular city by testing sewer water. Researchers say you can take just a spoonful of untreated sewer water, chemically analyze it, and find how much Methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, even prescription drugs a community is using. ‘You see Methamphetamine in some places. You might see cocaine in some places. You see prescription type opiates, from like Oxycontin,’ says UW researcher Caleb Banta-Green, who studies drug and alcohol abuse. Banta-Green, along with Oregon State researchers, think there are clues in wastewater that tells us as a community, which illegal drugs are being abused and roughly how much,” quoting Seattle’s NBC affiliate KING-5 TV. [Ed. Note: This would be especially useful in Yelm since the city’s treated water is recharged into the aquifer here.]

C. “WORLD’S BEST MEDICAL CARE? “ NOT HERE IN USA Quoting the New York Times, "Many Americans are under the delusion that we have "the best health care system in the world," as President Bush sees it, or provide the "best medical care in the world," as Rudolph Giuliani declared last week. That may be true at many top medical centers. But the disturbing truth is that this country lags well behind other advanced nations in delivering timely and effective care.
...But there is a growing body of evidence that, by an array of pertinent yardsticks, the United States is a laggard not a leader in providing good medical care.
Seven years ago, the World Health Organization made the first major effort to rank the health systems of 191 nations. France and Italy took the top two spots; the United States was a dismal 37th. More recently, the highly regarded Commonwealth Fund has pioneered in comparing the United States with other advanced nations through surveys of patients and doctors and analysis of other data. Its latest report, issued in May, ranked the United States last or next-to-last compared with five other nations - Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand and the United Kingdom - on most measures of performance, including quality of care and access to it. Other comparative studies also put the United States in a relatively bad light. link here

11. WOULD MILITARY USE ENERGY BEAM WEAPON ON CIVILIANS HERE? “Military leaders repeatedly and urgently requested — and were denied — the device, which uses energy beams instead of bullets and lets soldiers break up unruly crowds without firing a shot. It's a ray gun that neither kills nor maims, but the Pentagon has refused to deploy it out of concern that the weapon itself might be seen as a torture device. Perched on a Humvee or a flatbed truck, the Active Denial System gives people hit by the invisible beam the sense that their skin is on fire. They move out of the way quickly and without injury,” quoting the AP. [Ed. Note: Will we be seeing these weapons being used to stop protesters in the USA sometimes soon? This writer would not put it past the Bush/Cheney juggernaut against public rights just so they can hold on to power.] link here .

12. THE OPEN SELLOUT OF AMERICA A. “DEBUNKING 9/11 DEBUNKING” - THE BOOK Debunking 9/11 Debunking: An Answer to Popular Mechanics and Other Defenders of the Official Conspiracy Theory (Paperback) is the most exhaustive and thoroughly documented research yet on the cover-up & inside-job of what we know today as 9/11. I read this on a 10 hour flight from Amsterdam to Seattle last week after the recommendation of a KK reader. Author David Ray Griffin’s work should be read by all American’s so all are educated about the next 9/11 coming to USA’s shores, before the end of President Bush’s term, rest assured.

Worth a repeat mention here, is Nelson DeMille’s “fiction” Wild Fire, which “involves an American right-wing plot to suitcase-nuke two U.S. cities. The idea is to provoke an existing government plan called Wild Fire that automatically responds to nuclear terrorism in the homeland with a nuclear attack that will wipe out most of the Middle East. That such a plan probably exists, according to an opening author's note, heightens the tension," quoting Publisher’s Weekly on Amazon.com. [Ed. Note: If this situation does happen on US soil, consider it an inside job, for sure! After reading both of these books, you will see why I say that. IS RELIGIOUS WAR IMMINENT ON US SOIL? PERPETRATED BY OUR RELIGIOUS-RIGHT ADMINISTRATION? AN INSIDE-JOB SUITCASE NUKE ON US SOIL WILL BE BLAMED ON THE ARAB WORLD, AND THE USA WILL USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE TO MUSTER SUPPORT TO GO AFTER THE MIDDLE EAST. FEAR IN THE USA WILL BE WHIPPED UP IN FURY. STAY TUNED!]

President George W. Bush's speech Tuesday [8/28] lays out the Bush/Cheney plan to attack Iran and how the intelligence is being "fixed around the policy," as was the case before the attack on Iraq.” [Ed. D. "BAD CREDIT FEARED MORE THAN TERRORISM "Bad credit has supplanted terrorism as the gravest immediate risk threatening the economy, a key national research group reported Monday [Aug. 20].
Borrowers' withering ability to pay their bills and the subsequent fallout in the credit markets this summer topped the list of short-term risks on peoples' minds, according to a survey of 258 members conducted by the National Association of Business Economics.
NABE, a Washington-based association, said 32 percent of its surveyed members cited loan defaults and excessive debt as their biggest near-term concern," quoting the AP.
