| KLEINER'S KORNER SPECIAL EDITION MAY 28, 2006
|
Dear Readers;
This KK Special Edition is written to "head-off" the volume of letters in response to the Intro on the May 29th Kleiner's Korner published and emailed earlier today about the film "Loose Change."
Kleiner's Korner has highlighted recently the work of Dylan Avery (Founder, Owner, Director), Korey Rowe (Owner, Producer) & Jason Bermas (Webmaster, Graphic Designer) about their Loose Change video presenting observations and film footage of some of the day's incidents from 9/11/01. Today, May 28th, these gentlemen issued a public statement in response to a letter they received dated May 26th titled "9/11 Film Footage - Copyright and Trademark Infringement (13115-200)"
representing the French filmmakers who were in Lower Manhattan that day working on a project that captured some of the footage of the World Trade Center being impacted by some kind of aircraft.
The statement by the Loose Change owners states "5/28/2006 - We'll be just fine, guys. Stay tuned." link here
The Infringement Letter is listed in full, then scroll down to bottom for Loose Change comment.
[Ed. Note: Is this writer in support of copyright infringement? NO, and under no circumstances do I support that! All I am saying is I feel the Loose Change owners and the Naudet team will get this issue worked out, period!
And, I put the Infringement Letter there for all to see. The film is still playing in full and this writer believes this legal action will be settled so that these film clips are available for the public to use to decide the truth of what actually happened that day, regardless of the stone-walling by the federal government to release all that they know to the American people. Obviously, the owners of Loose Change feel the same way. Their film has caused alot of people to pause and think differently about what they have been told about 9/11. The desire for truth will always win-out over tyranny.]

| Kleiner's Korner For Week of May 29, 2006
|
Dear Readers,
Certainly no recent KK has caused so much email as last week’s 9/11 intro. One writer’s views summed up many letters: “I wanted to correct a few details about TWA 800 that you mention in your May 21st newsletter. 800 went down into the Atlantic from around 13,500 feet. It was on ascent out of JFK when it experienced two explosions. The first was in the mid-belly section that ruptured the empty belly fuel tank and caused the nose and cockpit to separate and fall into the ocean. The rest of 800 keep on flying for another two-three miles and continued its ascent for another thousand feet or more. Then the ruptured mid-section led to a second explosion in the left wing fuel tank which proved catastrophic. Much of 800 was in pieces by the time it hit the water. All experts and accounts I know agree on these points. The big question is what caused the initial explosion. Between 80 -200 eye witnesses have testified to seeing all or part of a streaking light going up from the ocean at or just beyond the horizon from the shore of LI [Long Island, NY], or about 14-20 miles out to sea. Some of these eye witnesses where (sic) naval and air force personnel including a NYS Air National Guard rescue Chinook on approach to its base at Westhampton [NY]. What the streak was and how it impacted the plane is still up for debate. The official line is, of course, bogus. That line claims the streak was burning fuel, and states that the initial explosion was caused by electrostatic discharges within or near the empty belly fuel tank due to loose fuel lines rubbing together and causing electrostatic friction. I have a very strong interest in 800 and have written a bit on it. Nelson DeMille, a detective story writer living in my home town of Garden City, LI, reveals in his latest book, NIGHT FALL, which is based on 800, much of the forensic evidence pertaining to 800. It is a great read and very informative. There seems to be little question of any traces of explosive devices being found inside or out of 800. DeMille presents the case that the streak was a surface to air missile that was used ballistically like an arrow, not explosively, to penetrate the fuselage and severe electrical connections, thus causing the tank to eventually explode. My take is that 800 was brought down by particle beam pulse weaponry. That is also the perspective of remote viewer David Morehouse when he spoke at RSE [Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment in Yelm, WA] several years ago.”
And, Beyond the Ordinary [KRSE] wrote to say, “Did you know we had the creators of ‘Loose Change- 2nd Edition’ on, and have you seen it? The most eloquent of the team, Jason, will be on again Wednesday [May 24]. Their page is

"Former United States president Bill Clinton says global warming is a greater threat to the future than terrorism and that the US and other countries must "get off our butts" and do something about it. Mr Clinton, speaking to the graduating class at University of Texas' Lyndon B Johnson School of Public Affairs, said the United States must pursue policies that make "more partners and fewer enemies" and use "institutionalised cooperation" before there is catastrophic damage from global warming," quoting Reuters.

Further, "Seattle researchers have discovered that warming of the Earth's atmosphere seems to be shoving jet streams out of their normal tracks -- a change that could expand deserts and profoundly affect the world's weather patterns. Over the past 27 years, the high-speed air currents that steer storms to temperate zones in both hemispheres have shifted about one degree toward the poles, or about 70 miles, scientists estimate in a paper published today in the journal Science," quoting the Seattle Times.

2. DAVINCI CODE UNSETTLES CHURCH
“The reappraisal of the role of Mary Magdalene and the suggestion that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married has captivated popular imagination at a time when many people are searching for spirituality outside institutional Christianity.
For many Catholics, the realization that neither compulsory celibacy for priests nor discrimination against women can be traced back to Jesus himself has nourished a hunger for change. The 1945 discovery of the Nag Hammadi Gnostic gospels on which Dan Brown relies heavily for source material, also coincided with the beginnings of the modern breakthrough of women into academic theological studies. Women began to interpret the texts of early Christianity from a new perspective. They discovered therein a buried tradition of female leadership in the early church that had later been suppressed. The role of Mary Magdalene is a key element of this. In 1969 the Vatican admitted it had for centuries misled the public by teaching that Mary Magdalene was a repentant prostitute and conflating her with the sinful woman who washed Jesus' feet with her tears and dried them with her hair,” quoting this astute story in the Toronto Star. link here .
3. RELIGIOUS BROADCASTER ROBERTSON SAYS GOD WARNED HIM OF NW TSUNAMI
"Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson says God told him storms and possibly a tsunami will hit America's coastline this year. Robertson has made the predictions at least four times in the past two weeks on his news-and-talk television show "The 700 Club" on the Christian Broadcasting Network, which he founded. Robertson said the revelations about this year's weather came to him during his annual personal prayer retreat in January. 'If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms,’" Robertson said May 8. Wednesday [May 17], he added, 'there well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest'" quoting the AP.

4. LARGEST NUCLEAR COOLING TOWER IN USA THAT WAS DEMOLISHED
"Demolition crews on Sunday [May 21] destroyed the 499-foot cooling tower at a defunct commercial nuclear power plant. With a rumble, the tower leaned to the side and collapsed upon itself leaving a cloud of dust and multi-ton pile of rubble. It took less than 10 seconds and roughly 2,800 pounds of explosives to complete. Portland General Electric ordered the implosion at Trojan Nuclear Power Plant, about 40 miles north of Portland, as part of its decommissioning. Trojan closed in 1993 for financial and safety reasons, and the facility has been decommissioned in stages since then. It was Oregon's first and only nuclear power plant. The tower is the largest in the nation to be destroyed, according to Controlled Demolition Inc., the Maryland contractor handling the implosion, quoting the AP.

5. “ZOO APES HAVE TASTE FOR RED WINE”
“Monkeys and apes in Budapest's Zoo drink their way through 55 litres of red wine each year, albeit in small quantities each day, to help boost their red blood cells, the zoo said Monday [May 22]. Budapest Zoo spokesman Zoltan Hanga said it was the 11 anthropoid apes who drank most of the wine in 2005,” quoting Reuters.

6. DO YOU HAVE A DOG OR CAT?
“Artistic Origins is dedicated to the love we have for our companion animals; our dogs and cats are family members, not just pets. The Puppy Baby Handbook is the first of its kind and…was the 2001 Independent Publisher Award finalist.

7. “MONKEYS DRAW NOVEL CONCLUSIONS, RESEARCHERS SAY”
“Monkeys keep turning out to be smarter than people think they are. Researchers have shown that they can count to four and are aware of differences between languages like Dutch and Japanese, even though they don't known what is being said. Now, Harvard psychologists find that monkeys can draw correct conclusions about novel situations. For example, shown a white towel that turns blue, a blue knife, and a glass of blue paint, they can figure out that the paint not the knife is responsible for the change in color,” quoting the Harvard University Gazette. link here .
8. WORLD’S SUPER-POWER JAILS 1 OUT OF 136 AMERICANS
“Prisons and jails added more than 1,000 inmates each week for a year, putting almost 2.2 million people, or one in every 136 U.S. residents, behind bars by last summer… Of particular note was the gain of 33,539 inmates in jails, the largest increase since 1997, researcher Allen J. Beck said. That was a 4.7 percent growth rate, compared with a 1.6 percent increase in people held in state and federal prisons. Prisons accounted for about two-thirds of all inmates, or 1.4 million, while the other third, nearly 750,000, were in local jails, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics,’ quoting the AP. [Ed. Note: This is pathetic for a country that says it is a Superpower. Seems like jailing someone is the only answer to many situations for Americans – out of sight, out of mind. How about thinking out-of-the-box on dealing with many of these situations that do not warrant jail cells and taxpayer waste?

9. YOU & ALL YOU DO ARE KNOWN
“Former AT&T technician Mark Klein is the key witness in the Electronic Frontier Foundation's class-action lawsuit against the telecommunications company, which alleges that AT&T cooperated in an illegal National Security Agency domestic surveillance program. In a public statement Klein issued last month, he described the NSA's visit to an AT&T office. In an older, less-public statement recently acquired by Wired News, Klein goes into additional details of his discovery of an alleged surveillance operation in an AT&T building in San Francisco,” quoting WIRED News. link here .
10. “DEEP-SEA FISH STOCKS ‘PLUNDERED’”
“Fish stocks in international waters are being plundered to the point of extinction, a leading conservationist group has said. Illegal fishing and bottom-trawling in deep waters are to blame, according to a report from WWF. It says the current system of regional fishing regulation is failing to tackle the problem, with not enough being done to enforce quotas or replenish stocks,” quoting the BBC.

11. HUMAN-TO-HUMAN BIRD FLU TRANSMISSION -- ARE WE ENTERING PHASE 4 OF 6?
This Reuters story lays out very clearly the 6 Phases of Pandemic Alert. Are we close to entering Number 4???
link here
“The World Health Organization said on Tuesday [May 23] human-to-human transmission of bird flu could not be ruled out in the deaths of six Indonesians. The virus has not mutated to become more dangerous, the WHO emphasized. So far, virtually all the world’s 124 human victims of bird flu, most of them in Asia, have caught it from poultry. But the deaths of the Indonesian family group, one of the largest clusters seen since the disease re-emerged in 2003, triggered fears the virus could be evolving into a type that could easily jump from person to person," quoting Reuters.
link here
Further, "For the first time, evidence suggests that the H5N1 avian influenza virus may have passed from one person to another and on to a third, according to a World Health Organization (WHO) official. Referring to the extended-family case cluster in Indonesia, the WHO's Maria Cheng told the Canadian Press (CP) yesterday, 'This is the first time we have seen cases that have gone beyond one generation of human-to-human spread.'...Peter Cordingley, spokesman for the WHO's Western Pacific region, quoted in a Reuters report today, said, 'This is the most significant development so far in terms of public health. We have never had a cluster as large as this. We have not had in the past what we have here, which is no explanation as to how these people became infected [in the first place]. We can't find sick animals in this community, and that worries us," quoting the Center for Infectious Disease Research & Policy, University of Minnesota. link here .
12. TOWN USES EMINENT DOMAIN TO BLOCK WAL-MART – NOT YELM
“A San Francisco suburb voted Tuesday night [May 23] to use the power of eminent domain to keep Wal-Mart Stores Inc. off a piece of city land after hearing from dozens of residents who accused the big-box retailer of engaging in scare tactics to force its way into the bedroom community. The overflow crowd that packed into the tiny Hercules City Hall cheered after the five-person City Council voted unanimously to use the unusual tactic to seize the 17 acres where Wal-Mart intended to build a shopping complex,” quoting the AP.
link here
The Yelm, WA City Council as is presently composed along with Yelm’s City Planners are not of the mindset to do something this bold. Their actions have been “slam-dunk” FOR development and unabashed growth, with little consideration along with limiting what their people say. Hence the 2006 Jefferson Muzzle Award.

RAMTHA SCHOOL NEWS
Ramtha student Danielle Graham will be making a presentation in June at Princeton's Society of Scientific Exploration (SSE) Conference. Unlike any other conference to which she has presented RSE-related data, SSE will have only one stream of speakers at a time, not multiple speakers happening simultaneously from which participants must choose. This SSE conference is being held in Orem, UT and is open to the public, providing a relatively inexpensive opportunity to hear world-class scientists discuss their research for 3 days at only $160.00 for the entire conference. Danielle's presentation is on the last day, Saturday, June 10th and she is most excited about this conference, as many opportunities have been created to openly discuss our RSE-related research data scientifically and experimentally with her Princeton friends and acquaintances.

OF LOCAL NOTE
Keven R. Graves, publisher/editor of the weekly Nisqually Valley News (NVN) stated in his April 28th editorial column
"a blog is not to be mistaken for true journalism, and any attempt to qualify a blog as shuch should quickly get those red flags flying and alarm bells ringing" as he "...stumbled across a blog the other day..." in response to his discovery of this writer's new Yelm Community blog announced to the public 4 days prior to his byline. This writer has received many emails, comments and calls expressing support following Mr. Graves' "Publisher's Corner" piece. Since he did not list the blog or blogger by name, only referring to me as Mr. Blogger, this caused his readers to do their own research as to what and whom Mr. Graves was referring, providing untold free advertising for this site.
To futher put Mr. Graves' editorial in context, one of the country's more respected newspapers The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting "In a decision that could set the tone for journalism in the digital age, a California appeals court ruled Friday [May 26] that bloggers, like traditional reporters, have the right to keep their sources confidential...The decision by the state Court of Appeal in San Jose, which reverses a ruling by the Santa Clara County Superior Court, speaks to changes in the way news is gathered and published. Anyone with a computer and an Internet connection can now be a reporter. It also means that information, not limited by region or resources, can reach far and wide via the Web. In their ruling, the judges said the online news sites should be treated as newspapers, television and radio broadcasts are. O'Grady and the other bloggers, they contended, were acting as traditional reporters and editors do: developing sources, collecting information and publishing it, albeit on the Web."
Puget Sound's Seattle Times also carried the Bloomberg News wire on this story as did other worldwide newspapers. link here
This writer never said a blogger was a journalist, rather the former Yelm Mayoral candidate following through with his campaign slogan "Giving You a Voice." A blog is a fabulous vehicle for the community to air their views and by creating this blog, our community can see that "Giving You A Voice" was not just a slogan. Now, a court has ruled that bloggers should be treated the same as newspapers. The Yelm Community Blog can be found at:

| Kleiner's Korner For Week of May 22, 2006
|
Dear Readers;
As the Holy Mother Church has ratcheted up damage-control in the wake of Dan Brown's DaVinci Code movie debit last week, so too has the U. S. government's paultry attempt at damage-control about the events of 9/11. The American government still has not released all of the information it says it has about American Airlines 77 crash into the Pentagon. That is telling in and of itself. How long can a government wrap itself around the defense of "withheld due to national security" before the public sees through the smoke and mirrors. That day is at-hand. The U. S. Federal government did release Pentagon camera videos last week of what they say was American Airlines 77 that reportedly crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11. This video shows very little and was released to stem the conspiracy theories that AA77 was not the aircraft that crashed there. The first clue to that assertion is that a 757 fuselage, wings, and tail were never found. Even TWA 800, which supposedly nose-dived in the ocean from 35,000 feet, had its wings, tail, and engines easily identifiable after retrieval from the ocean floor. The engine fan blades are made with titanium, one of the strongest metals known. Where are AA 77’s? No, this video just shows a continued government cover-up since they will not release the confiscated cameras from the privately owned Shell Station across the street and the Maryland DOT cameras that also caught whatever crashed into the Pentagon. Here is the government/media spin on more manure:
link here A Cypriot Airlines 737 nosedived into the ground last year from 35,000 feet after a mid-flight pressurization problem with the tail virtually intact [Ed. Note: Why is there no tail or fuselage assembly recognizable from the Penatgon crash from an aircraft that reportedly was near the ground and virtually level? HMMM!]
link here then click "video" to see the Cypriot Air tail.
Further, “An enthusiastic standing-room-only crowd packed the Wisconsin Historical Society auditorium Saturday [May 5] to hear ex-Bush Administration insider Morgan Reynolds prosecute top administration and military officials for the 9/11 inside job. Reynolds indicted Richard Cheney, George W. Bush, former Joint Chiefs Chairman Richard Meyers, confessed WTC demolisher and insurance-fraudster Larry Silverstein, and others for mass murder, Conspiracy, and other charges including high treason. The enthusiastic response from the overflow crowd was a de facto vote for conviction on all counts,” quoting RINF.com.

The icing on the cake was from mainstream media personality Roger Ebert raising his 9/11 questions after seeing and reviewing United 93:
link here Maybe, I am hopeful, the world will wake-up top the facts and question, "What is wrong with this picture?"
1. CHAOTIC WORLD OF QUARKS BEING STUDIED
“What's matter really made of? Physicists know surprisingly little about what goes on in even one of the most basic parts of an atom--the proton. Now, in a clever experiment, researchers have taken the first clean look at the chaotic sea of quarks, the basic particles that make up matter, inside the proton. The findings could give physicists a much better idea of what goes into a proton. Particle physicists know protons are made of two up quarks and one down quark. But though the charges of the three quarks add up to the charge of the proton, their combined magnetic moments (the strengths and directions of their magnetic fields) don't add up to nearly enough, and their mass adds up to barely 1% of the proton's. There's obviously something else going on. That something else is a "quark sea," a bubbling ocean of quarks popping in and out of existence within the proton. Pairs of quarks--a strange and an antistrange, for example--materialize and then annihilate each other. But for the brief moment they exist, they could add to the proton's mass, magnetic moment, and the charge inside the proton,” quoting ScienceNow.

2. REGENERATION OF OPTIC NERVE IDENTIFIED IN RATS
“When neurologists first found a way to regrow damaged optic nerves in mammals 5 years ago, they weren't sure exactly how the procedure worked. Now, a team of researchers has identified the molecule responsible and achieved significant regeneration of optic nerves in rats without the harmful side-effects seen with some previous techniques,” quoting ScienceNow.

3. “UNIVERSE ‘CHILD OF PREVIOUS ONE’”
“A joint UK-US team has put forward an alternative theory of cosmic evolution. It proposes that the Universe undergoes cycles of "Big Bangs" and "Big Crunches", meaning our Universe is merely a "child of the previous one". It challenges the conventional view of the cosmos, which observations show to be 12-14 billion years old. The new ideas, reported in the journal Science, may explain why the expansion of the Universe is accelerating, the researchers say,” quoting the BBC.

4. “’BRAZILIAN STONEHENGE’ DISCOVERED”
“Brazilian archaeologists have found an ancient stone structure in a remote corner of the Amazon that may cast new light on the region's past. The site, thought to be an observatory or place of worship, pre-dates European colonisation and is said to suggest a sophisticated knowledge of astronomy. Its appearance is being compared to the English site of Stonehenge. It was traditionally thought that before European colonisation, the Amazon had no advanced societies,’ quoting the BBC.

5. “STUDY: SONGBIRDS CAN LEARN BASIC GRAMMAR”
“The simplest grammar, long thought to be one of the skills that separate man from beast, can be taught to a common songbird, new research suggests. Starlings learned to differentiate between a regular birdsong "sentence" and one containing a clause or another sentence of warbling, according to a study in Thursday's [Apr. 28 ] journal Nature,” quoting the AP.

6. “I DRIVE AN 80 MPH, 166 MPG SUV”
“OK, after reading the headline, you're probably now looking for "the catch". There isn't one. I drive a 2002 Toyota RAV4 EV. It costs about $1.80 to go 100 miles, and I commute daily at about 75 miles per hour without any problems. And if you think I baby it, I don't. Ask the bureaucracy over at the emission place when they made me bring it in, despite my explanations over the phone. They have an electric-vehicle burnout to show for it. (They loved it),” quoting GeekLimit. link here .
7. “FOOD ADDICTION IS A REAL PHENOMENON WITH A NEUROLOGICAL BASIS”
“Need a new excuse for why you haven't lost weight? Maybe one that even makes you feel good about yourself? Try this: If you are highly motivated and willing to work hard for what you want, your brain may be making it difficult for you to resist the urge to overeat, a new study has shown. Psychologists have found that people who are prone to obesity tend to be highly motivated by rewards. They go out of their way to get the things they want, are willing to take risks, and are more thrilled than the average person when they succeed. Meanwhile, neuroscientists have found that the need for reward is hardwired into various regions of the brain. When researchers stimulate these regions in the lab, animals overeat, particularly seeking out sweet and fatty foods,” quoting ScienceNow.

8. “EXXON VALDEZ: THE DISASTER CONTINUES”
“The 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster is a bad gift that keeps on giving. A new study finds that oil from the spill still lingers throughout the tidal zone of the region in southeastern Alaska first affected by the spill--an area frequented by marine birds and mammals. The findings could help explain why sea otters and ducks in the initially hardest hit area of Alaska's Prince William Sound have recovered more slowly than other nearby populations,” quoting ScienceNow.

9. LEVI STRAUSS & CO. TESTS RFID CLOTHING -- REFUSES TO SAY WHERE
"It may be time to ditch your Dockers and lay off the Levi's, say privacy activists Katherine Albrecht and Liz McIntyre. New information confirms that Levi Strauss & Co. is violating a call for a moratorium on item-level RFID by spy-chipping its clothing. What's more, the company is refusing to disclose the location of its U.S. test. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a controversial technology that uses tiny microchips to track items from a distance. These RFID microchips have earned the nickname "spy-chips" because each contains a unique identification number, like a Social Security number for things, that can be read silently and invisibly by radio waves. Over 40 of the world's leading privacy and civil liberties organizations have called for a moratorium on chipping individual consumer items because the technology can be used to track people without their knowledge or consent," quoting SpyChips.com.

10. EARTH’S MAGNETIC FIELD STEADILY WEAKENING
“Earth's magnetic field has been steadily weakening over the last century and a half, which could herald a field reversal. If that happens, compasses would point south instead of north and loss of protection from solar winds could subject Earth to intense solar radiation. But a new study may give less cause for concern. According to historical data, Earth's field was relatively stable from 1590 to 1840, which suggests that the recent decline is more likely a mere wobble in the field's strength. No direct measurements of the intensity of Earth's magnetic field exist before 1837, when mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss invented a method to gauge it. But thanks to the rigorously kept logs of sailors who used the sun and stars to judge the accuracy of their compasses, researchers can glean magnetic data points from further back in history,” quoting ScienceNow.

“Don’t expect to see Jack and Virginia Robertson at the Olympia Farmers Market this year selling the popular honey their many honeybee hives typically produce. The Littlerock area couple — along with other commercial and hobby beekeepers in South Sound — suffered major losses of honeybees and beehives since fall to a parasite that’s been wreaking havoc on bee colonies for years. The Robertson’s, a fixture at the market, lost all but a few of their 250 beehives to the varroa mite, a reddish-brown mite that invades bee colonies and literally sucks the life out of adult bees and their brood,” quoting The Olympian.

3. “COMPLETE BREAST GROWN FROM SINGLE STEM CELL”
“A complete, functioning breast has been grown from a single stem cell by researchers in Australia. It was done in a mouse, but experts believe it won't be long before it happens in humans. ‘Until now, no one has been able to take one cell and make it do everything involved in a fully-functioning, milk-producing breast,’ notes postdoctoral fellow Kaylene Simpson, who set up the experiment before moving to Harvard Medical School. ‘There were lots of technical obstacles to overcome and it was very difficult to attract funding at first.’ Comparing the differences in development between normal and tumorous breasts could lead to new treatments that attack the earliest stages of breast cancer. Simpson also mentions the possibility of growing new breasts to replace those lost to surgery. As such medical applications become more likely, commercial interest in using stem cells to enhance breast size could also grow larger,” quoting the Harvard Gazette.

4. GAS GUZZLING FOOD: HOW TO CREATE AN ENERGY-EFFICIENT DIET
"It takes about 10 fossil fuel calories to produce each food calorie in the average American diet. So if your daily food intake is 2,000 calories, then it took 20,000 calories to grow that food and get it to you. In more familiar units, this means that growing, processing and delivering the food consumed by a family of four each year requires the equivalent of almost 34,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy, or more than 930 gallons of gasoline (for comparison, the average U.S. household annually consumes about 10,800 kWh of electricity, or about 1,070 gallons of gasoline). In other words, we use about as much energy to grow and transport our food as to power our homes or fuel our cars." Buy locally grown foods. Thomas Starrs- Chair of the American Solar Energy Society

5. HANFORD, WA. MOST POLLUTED PLACE ON EARTH -- OUTSIDE CHERNOBEL
"Albert Einstein once defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Well, that’s what critics accuse the U.S. Department of Energy of: making the same mistakes over and over in a project that has already squandered billions of dollars in taxpayers' money. But the risk here is far greater than financial, since it involves highly toxic nuclear waste. At stake are millions of gallons of radioactive liquid waste left over from the making of nuclear bombs, including the one that was dropped on Nagasaki. This waste has been sitting in underground tanks in Hanford, Wash., ever since, while the government tries to figure out how to clean it up. As correspondent Lesley Stahl reports, the waste is so lethal that a small cup of it would kill everyone in a crowded restaurant, in minutes," quoting CBS News 60 Minutes.

6. CHURCH SPIN -- DEBUNK TRUTH ABOUT PRIORY OF SION -- CBS NEWS TOOK THE BAIT!
"Since it was published three years ago, Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" has become one of the most popular novels of all time, with more than 30 million copies in print worldwide. With a major movie based on the book due out soon, the book seems assured of a place on the bestseller lists for a considerable time to come. What has attracted readers to "The Da Vinci Code" is its central theme, which Dan Brown claims is not fiction but fact — that a mysterious European society, known as the Priory of Sion, has for centuries guarded a momentous secret. That secret, which is the theory at the heart of the novel, is that Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene and today their descendants are living in France. It's not surprising that this has incurred the wrath of many Christians, including the Vatican, while others have wondered if there might not be some truth to all of this. Well, wonder no more. Correspondent Ed Bradley reports on the real secret of the Priory of Sion." quoting CBS News 60 Minutes. [Ed. Note: My wife and I have been to Rennes le Chateau twice, stayed at a guesthouse there and we believe the stories of the secret societies and applaud any books that reveal them.]

7. PRICES FOR BEER & WINE MAY FALL IN WASHINGTON STATE
“The middleman is gone, and Washington consumers may pay less for wine and beer because of it. A federal judge on Friday [April 21] all but dismantled the state's three-tier system that governs the sale and distribution of wine and beer and artificially inflates prices — ruling that state interests do not trump federal law. U.S. District Court Judge Marsha Pechman ordered the state Liquor Control Board to stop enforcing key parts of its regulatory system, such as requiring distributors to mark up prices 10 percent. But Pechman stayed her ruling for 30 days to give defendants time for appeal,” quoting the Seattle Times.

8. “INVEST IN THE COMING GLOVAL WATER SHORTAGE”
“Fresh water’s getting scarce, and it has no substitutes. For investors in companies that can supply our increasingly thirsty planet, that spells opportunity…There is no more fresh water on Earth today than there was a million years ago. Yet today, 6 billion people share it. Since 1950, the world population has doubled, but water use has tripled, notes John Dickerson, an analyst and fund manager based in San Diego. Unlike petroleum, he adds, no technological innovation can ever replace water.
China, which is undergoing a vast rural-to-urban population migration, is emblematic of the places where water has become scarce. It has about as much water as Canada but 100 times more people. Per-capita water reserves are only about a fourth the global average, according to experts. Of its 669 cities, 440 regularly suffer moderate to critical water shortages,” quoting MSNBC.

9. THINK AGAIN IF YOU BUY OREOS, KEEBLER, MRS. FIELDS, PEPPERIDGE FARM
"Orangutans are literally dying for cookies. Thanks in part to a palm oil trade propped up by indifferent corporations and authoritarian regimes, the rainforest habitats of the last remaining Sumatran orangutans, tigers, and rhinoceroses are being destroyed. Keebler, Oreo, Mrs. Fields, Pepperidge Farm, and other companies use palm oil in some of their cookies. It's found increasingly in crackers, pastries, cereals, and microwave popcorn. Though not as unhealthy as partially hydrogenated oil, palm oil still promotes heart disease," quoting Center For Science in the Public Interest.

10. USA’S INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM 50 YEARS OLD IN JUNE
“"A half century after President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed his name on June 29, 1956, to the bill creating the National System of Interstate and Defense Highways, and two decades after completion of all but the last few miles, America's answer to the Romans' Appian Way has altered the pace -- and the face -- of the nation. Interstate highways nurtured the growth of big-city suburbs at the expense of established business districts. They helped shift the population from North to South and from East to West. They redefined the vacation, the business trip and the trek to college by making it easy to drive hundreds, if not thousands, of miles. They gave a familiar cast to faraway places by breathing life and money into new chains of motels, restaurants, gas stations and stores. And by knitting together the nation's far-flung cities with more than 46,000 miles of controlled-access pavement, interstates brought lifeblood to America," quoting Michael S. Sweeney in the AAA Journey Magazine of Washington State May/June, 2006 edition.

11. CALCULATE YOUR ANNUAL AUTO EXPENSES
“"When AAA first published the Your Driving Costs brochure in 1950, driving a car 10,000 miles annually cost nine cents per mile. Gasoline sold for 27 cents a gallon. While those figures are pocket change today, motorists still need to budget for automotive expenses. Your Driving Costs 2006 shows how to calculate the cost of owning and operating a vehicle, taking into account fuel, maintenance, tires, insurance, registration, taxes, and other costs. You can use the calculation to accurately budget for annual automotive expenses, as well as make informed vehicle-purchase decisions. The free brochure is available at AAA offices and at aaa.com (click on “News & Safety”)," quoting AAA Washington Journey Magazine.

| Kleiner's Korner For Week of May 8, 2006
|
Dear Readers,
Consciousness and energy create the nature of reality in one's life, meaning that putting energy behind whatever you think will have that thought happen in your life. So, during the last week while I have been contemplating the local newspaper devoting a full column attempting to make Yelm's first blog irrelevant, I brought forth to me a magazine with several pertinent stories about blogs and newspapers, that I would like to share with you.
Mr. Graves states "a blog is not to be mistaken for true journalism." No one ever stated a blog WAS true journalism, rather individuals exercising their rights of free speech in an open exchange via the modern Town Hall- the internet! Blogger now covers White House Press briefings: "...a young man stepped into the White House briefing room Monday [March 6] as perhaps the first blogger to cover the daily press briefings...Garrett M. Graff, 23, writes Fishbowl D.C., a Web log about the news media in Washington. He decided to see if he could get a daily pass for a briefing after a recent controversy raised questions about White House access and who is a legitimate reporter...McClellan [White House Press Secretary] said Graff was believed to be the first blogger to be credentialed to attend his morning press gathering and his televised briefing later in the day...Graff is the son of Christopher Graff, correspondent for The Associated Press in Montpelier, Vt.," quoting the AP. [Ed. Note: Even this suppressive White House acknowledges the impact of blogs on the landscape of free speech.]
link here The Economist published a timely article in its Apr. 22-26 edition about the troubles at The New York Times saying: "NEWSPAPERS are faring badly in America. Their circulations are falling as the young get their news from the internet, and they are losing their share of advertising, especially classified ads. Last year shareholders in the second-biggest, Knight Ridder, forced the firm to sell itself.…" [Ed. Note: Local groceries no longer advertise with the local newspaper, as previously mentioned by the NVN publisher/editor in his column, bulk-mailing their own sections instead.]
link here Yelm's local newspaper says "A link is just a link" responding to my comments about one local developer being the only one allowed to have a link on the NVN homepage. The local newspaper editor stated in his November 18th, 2005 post-mayoral election column "Perceptions are a mighty thing, sometimes more powerful than the truth." This writer agrees with Mr. Graves which is exactly why I questioned the Thurston Highlands developers' own link on the NVN site, especially when they have a pending application before the city. So, in the context of perception, "A link is NOT just a link." Further, from the same edition of The Economist, "WE CHANGED South Korean politics and the media market, but I'm too shy to say that," says Oh Yeon Ho before he can catch his own irony. But Mr Oh, the founder and boss of Ohmy News, a sort of online newspaper, has earned the right to boast, because Ohmy is the world's most successful example to date of citizen journalism in action.…"

1. WHAT'S HAPPENING IN ENERGY
"BOLIVIA NATIONALIZES NATURAL GAS SECTOR"; THREATENS TO EVICT FOREIGN COMPANIES
"Soldiers occupied Bolivia’s natural gas fields and refineries after President Evo Morales placed his country’s vast energy reserves under state control and threatened to evict foreign companies. The bold stroke solidifies Morales’ role along with Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and Cuba’s Fidel Castro in Latin America’s new axis of populist leaders opposed to U.S. and corporate influence in the region," quoting the AP.

THE PARADIGM IS THE ENEMY: The State of the Peak Oil Movement at the Cusp of Collapse
A Speech by Michael C. Ruppert for the Local Solutions to the Energy Dilemma Conference
April 27-29, New York City, at Cooper Union. One of the most important and insightful speeches this year about what is happening in the world of oil. link here .
2. BRAZIL THUMBS NOSE AT BIG OIL – BECOMES ENERGY INDEPENDENT
“Wouldn't it be nice if, one day, we didn't have to worry about the ups and downs of the gas markets? Well in Brazil, the fifth largest country in the world, there's a plan to become free from imported oil, not in the next 30 years, not in the next 10, but by the end of this year, reports CBS News correspondent Trish Regan. That's primarily because while the rest of the world was mapping the human genome, scientists in Brazil were mapping the DNA of sugar in an effort to create a cleaner, cheaper alternative to gasoline: sugarcane ethanol. They succeeded. Brazil's ethanol is about 30 percent less expensive than gasoline; according to the World Bank, it's about 50 cents cheaper per gallon to produce sugarcane ethanol. And although ethanol gets slightly less mileage, it's still cheaper on a per-mile-driven basis,” quoting the CBS Evening News.

3. KK READER: “WHY MATH NEEDS A NEW IMAGE”
Submitted by a KK reader:
“Mathematics has a public relations problem in this country, particularly among some girls and women, according to Hollywood actress Danica McKellar. ‘Nobody out there is saying that smart is sexy and smart is important,’ said McKellar, the co-author of a mathematical proof. ‘Role models like Paris Hilton have everything to do with why this country is being dumbed down. We need better PR.’ A year after Harvard President Lawrence Summers' remarks suggesting innate gender differences in science and math ability, the Institute for Research on Women and Gender (IRWG) on Feb. 7 hosted an event titled "Proof and Prejudice: Women in Mathematics," to examine the culture of mathematics in this country and women's experience as professional mathematicians,” quoting the Stanford [University, CA.] Report.

4. DUMBING DOWN OF COOKBOOKS
“At Kraft Foods, recipes never include words such as "dredge" and "sauté." Betty Crocker recipes avoid "braise" and "truss." Land O' Lakes has all but banned "fold" and "cream" from its cooking instructions. Pillsbury carefully sidesteps "simmer" and "sear." When the country's top food companies want to create recipes that millions of Americans can understand, there seems to be one guiding principle: They need to be written for a nation of culinary illiterates. Basic cooking terms that have been part of kitchen vocabulary for centuries are now considered incomprehensible to the majority of Americans. Despite the popularity of Food Network cooking shows on cable TV and the burgeoning number of food magazines and gourmet restaurants, today's cooks have fewer kitchen skills than did their parents or grandparents. To compensate, food companies are dumbing down recipes, and cookbooks are published with simple instructions and lots of step-by-step illustrations,” quoting the Washington Post.

5. NYC FOLLOWS GREAT BRITIAN'S WAYS WITH CAMERAS EVERYWHERE
"The NYPD is installing 505 surveillance cameras around the city - and pushing to safeguard lower Manhattan with a "ring of steel" that could track hundreds of thousands of people and cars a day, authorities revealed yesterday [Mar. 20]. The police cameras will constantly keep watch over neighborhoods plagued by crime and monitor potential terror targets as the city moves to put another 1,200 cops on the street, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said," quoting the NY Daily News. "Big Brother is coming to your 'hood soon." link here .
6. “THE ULTIMATE SECURE HOME”
“Strategically located in the awesome San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado, this patented steel-reinforced concrete earth home was built to withstand almost any natural or man-made disaster you can name. It is more secure, safe, and functional than any conventional house could ever be, yet still has a level of comfort that one might not expect to find in an underground home,” quoting their site. [Ed. Note: This is awesome].

7. “EVIDENCE MOUNTS FOR SUN’S COMPANION STAR”
“The Binary Research Institute (BRI) has found that orbital characteristics of the recently discovered planetoid, "Sedna", demonstrate the possibility that our sun might be part of a binary star system. A binary star system consists of two stars gravitationally bound orbiting a common center of mass. Once thought to be highly unusual, such systems are now considered to be common in the Milky Way galaxy. Walter Cruttenden at BRI, Professor Richard Muller at UC Berkeley, Dr. Daniel Whitmire of the University of Louisiana, amongst several others, have long speculated on the possibility that our sun might have an as yet undiscovered companion. Most of the evidence has been statistical rather than physical. The recent discovery of Sedna, a small planet like object first detected by Cal Tech astronomer Dr. Michael Brown, provides what could be indirect physical evidence of a solar companion. Matching the recent findings by Dr. Brown, showing that Sedna moves in a highly unusual elliptical orbit, Cruttenden has determined that Sedna moves in resonance with previously published orbital data for a hypothetical companion star. In the May 2006 issue of Discover, Dr. Brown stated: ‘Sedna shouldn't be there. There's no way to put Sedna where it is. It never comes close enough to be affected by the sun, but it never goes far enough away from the sun to be affected by other stars... Sedna is stuck, frozen in place; there's no way to move it, basically there's no way to put it there – unless it formed there. But it's in a very elliptical orbit like that. It simply can't be there. There's no possible way - except it is. So how, then?’" quoting Euralert.

8. “ANATOMY OF A GREEN ROOF”
“The American Society of Landscape Architects recently built a “demonstration” green roof. They incorporated new design features to maximize both green space and walking areas, and emphasized aesthetics, using “waves” to let visitors feel enclosed within two green slopes. ASLA will monitor conditions such as temperature and water run-off, comparing data with an identical non-green roof next door,” quoting USA Today.

9. “A ROOFTOP WINDMILL OF YOUR VERY OWN” FOR POWER
“As projects to build "wind farms" of massive, electricity-generating wind turbines continue to multiply, so do the ranks of "not in my backyard" protesters. The turbines, some with blades that sweep as high as a 20-story building, are increasingly seen as unsightly and dangerous manifestations of the industrialization of the countryside. "The volume is going up higher on opposition to wind farms," says Kathy Belyeu, spokeswoman for the Washington, D.C.-based American Wind Energy Association. Although protests have generally failed to nix many farms, they frequently translate into costly delays or relocation to sites with less favorable winds. Wind advocates thus have high hopes for less obtrusive wind technology: specifically, high-performance, nonpolluting rooftop microturbines. Generally not much bigger than a dish antenna, they hardly mar the skyline. And if wind conditions are optimal, they can satisfy a typical household's appetite for electricity,” quoting Newsweek.

10. PREVIOUSLY LISTED KK STORY ABOUT HOLOSYNC MAKES NATIONAL NEWS
“If you suffer from depression, anxiety, or insomnia, a new kind of therapy could be music to your brain. The treatment involves recording a person’s brainwaves on a computer and then converting them into music that the patient listens to on a CD. Over time, says one psychiatrist involved in developing and administering Brain Music Therapy, the mind is soothed by its own sounds so much that depression, anxiety, insomnia and attention deficit disorder can be alleviated,” quoting Fox News.

11. YIKES - PEOPLE USING HOME EQUITY VALUE TO LIVE ON
Several years ago, this writer mentioned this issue would become a problem and could lead to retirees and others losing their home if values fall and they to sell and move: "Do you think your house is your retirement nest egg? Think again, say some financial advisers. Many, if not most, homeowners do expect to retire “on the house” according to the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College. But at the same time they are reducing their own equity by borrowing against their homes for other expenses. They may be counting on inflated home values that could fall by the time they are ready to sell and move. They may be counting on a resource they never really want to sell," quoting Reuters.

1. AMERICANS LEAVING BIG CITIES SEARCHING FOR OPEN SPACE
“Americans are leaving the nation’s big cities in search of cheaper homes and open spaces farther out. Nearly every large metropolitan area had more people move out than move in from 2000 to 2004, with a few exceptions in the South and Southwest, according to a report being released Thursday by the Census Bureau. Northeasterners are moving South and West. West Coast residents are moving inland. Midwesterners are chasing better job markets. And just about everywhere, people are escaping to the outer suburbs, also known as exurbs,” quoting the AP. [Ed. 2. EXPERTS FIND EVIDENCE OF BOSNIA PYRAMID
“Researchers on Wednesday [Apr. 20] geometrically cut stone slabs that they said could form part of the sloping surface of what they believe is an ancient pyramid lying beneath a huge hill. Archaeologists and other experts began digging at this central Bosnian town last week to explore the team leader's theory that the 2,120-foot hill covers a step pyramid, which would be the first ever found in Europe. ‘These are the first uncovered walls of the pyramid,’ Semir Osmanagic, a Bosnian archaeologist who studied the pyramids of Latin America for 15 years, said of the stonework found Wednesday. ‘"We can see the surface is perfectly flat. This is the crucial material proof that we are talking pyramids,’ he said. Osmanagic believes the structure will prove to be 722 feet high, or a third taller than Egypt's Great Pyramid of Giza” quoting Visoko on CBS News. link here .
3. WISCONSIN BILL WOULD PROHIBIT MANADATORY CHIP IMPLANTS - IN HUMANS
"Former Gov. Tommy Thompson was one of the first high-profile supporters of tiny microchips implanted in people's arms that would allow doctors to access medical information. Now the state he used to lead is poised to become the first to ban governments and private businesses from forcing such implants on employees, privacy advocates say. A proposal moving through the state Legislature would prohibit anyone from requiring people to have the tiny chips embedded in them or doing so without their knowledge. Violators would face fines of up to $10,000," quoting the AP. link here .
4. “AMERICANS PESSIMISTIC ABOUT FUTURE…OF ENVIRONMENT”
“Most Americans are pessimistic about the state of the environment and want action taken to improve its health, according to a new national survey conducted by Stanford University's Woods Institute for the Environment. Fifty-five percent of Americans surveyed said they expect the world's natural environment to be in worse shape in 10 years than it is now, and an additional 5 percent said the environment is currently in "poor" or "very poor" shape and will not improve, according to the survey,” quoting the Stanford Report. [Ed. Note: Yelm's environment will be seriously challenged with
7,000 new homes slated.]

5. “KIDS’ TV TIME TIED TO CONSUMERISM”
“Peace at any price? More than one parent has forked over cash in a desperate bid to stop their kids' badgering for the hottest toy or the latest snack. Now researchers at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and the School of Medicine have found that the more time California third-graders spent in front of the tube or playing video games, the more often they asked an adult to buy them items they saw on the screen. “It's called the 'nag factor,'" said Lisa Chamberlain, MD, MPH, Packard Children's researcher and clinical instructor at the medical school, "and it's very effective." What's more, the correlation between increased screen time and subsequent requests for toys and junk food held true for over a period of 20 months,” quoting the Stanford Report.

6. CHINA’S DUST & AIR -- MAKES WAY TO NORTHWEST
“Beijing will try to use artificial rainmaking to clear the air after a choking dust storm coated China's capital and beyond with yellow grit, prompting a health warning to keep children indoors, state media said Tuesday [Apr. 18]. The huge storm blew dust far beyond China's borders, blanketing South Korea and reaching Tokyo. The storm, reportedly the worst in at least five years, hit Beijing overnight Sunday, turning the sky yellow and forcing residents to dust off and hose down cars and buildings...The government was preparing to seed clouds to make rain to clear the air, state TV said, citing the Central Meteorological Bureau. It did not elaborate, and the bureau refused to release more information. Storms carrying chalky dust from the north China plain hit Beijing every spring, but newspapers said this week's was the heaviest since at least 2001, quoting CNN.
link here "BAD AIR FROM CHINA MAY AFFECT NORTHWEST"
"On the day a Boeing 747 delivered Chinese President Hu Jintao to Everett this week, a tiny twin-propeller airplane loaded with electronic instruments lifted off from the same airport, looking for another delivery from China: dirty air. Toxic mercury from Asian power plants. Ozone produced by growing fleets of Chinese cars. Smoke from burning Siberian forests. It all rides the jet stream across the Pacific Ocean and lands in places as remote as the Olympic Mountains, scientists are discovering. Most pollution here is still from local sources, and much of the Asian pollution is thought to reach the Northwest only in the spring because of seasonal weather patterns. But some local problems — mercury in fish in local lakes, for example, or the haze that rings Mount Rainier — could have Asian connections," quoting the Seattle Times. [Ed. Note: I have always heard Ramtha to say Yelm is protected. From the Olympic Mountains to the west, the Cascades to the East and Bald Hills to the south, this certainly seems true. The city of Everett mentioned in the story sits in the entrance to the Puget Sound from the Strait of Juan de Fuca.]

7. "SCIENTISTS FIND RIVERS UNDER ANTARCTIC ICE"
“Rivers as big as the Thames in England that may connect sub-glacial lakes have been found deep under the Antarctic ice, scientists said on Wednesday [Apr. 19]. British researchers who discovered the plumbing system that moves water hundreds of miles said it challenges the notion that the lakes under the Antarctic ice evolved independently and could support ancient life. "Previously, it was thought water moves underneath the ice by very slow seepage," said Professor Duncan Wingham of University College London (UCL) who headed the research team. ‘But this new data shows that, every so often, the lakes beneath the ice pop off like champagne corks, releasing floods that travel very long distances.’ Scientists had plans to drill through the ice to take samples from the lakes but were worried about contaminating them with new microbes, “quoting Reuters. link here .
8. SAD EFFECT OF HUMANITY'S NEGLECT AND STUPIDITY ON BIRDS & MAMMALS
A. ON INDIAN SUBCONTINENT!
"A non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), diclofenac has been widely used by humans for decades, but India and Pakistan only started using it for veterinary purposes in about 1990, when the effects on the birds began to be noticed. Post-mortems on dead vultures showed beyond doubt that the diclofenac they had ingested from the cattle flesh they had eaten caused fatal kidney damage. Tests on young captive birds revealed that the concentrations of diclofenac found in treated cattle were enough to kill them. The reason we put this page our site although not parrots, it is further proof that NSAID's are highly controversial and dangerous, in this case even second hand," quoting CKC Birds.

"Hundreds of dead dolphins washed up along the shore of a popular tourist destination on Zanzibar's northern coast, and scientists on Friday [Apr. 28] ruled out poisoning. 'We started noticing them last night. All are adult dolphins. We could do nothing but photograph them,' said a hotel owner who preferred not to be named. It was not immediately clear what killed the estimated 400 dolphins, whose carcasses were strewn along a 2.5-mile stretch of Nungwi, said Narriman Jidawi, a marine biologist at the Institute of Marine Science in Zanzibar," quoting MSNBC.

10. "IT'S OK TO CATCH A LITTLE SHUT-EYE AT WORK"
"Lindholst is simply trying to convince visitors of something that makes hard-driving bosses blanch: that it’s OK to catch a little shut-eye at work. Not coincidentally, Lindholst, who has an MBA from Columbia University, has just the device to do it. His company designed and markets a high-tech napping chair called the MetroNap Pod. An ordinary desk chair isn’t right for a restful nap, Lindholst and his partner, Arshad Chowdhury, insist. ‘First of all,’ says Lindholst, ‘it’s not socially acceptable to be seen napping at your desk. Plus, it’s ergonomically bad for you. Your body wants to lie down in order to relax.’ The MetroNap Pod, which should be placed in a darkened room for best results, is a chaise lounge with a kind of privacy cupola at the upper end. The whole thing wouldn’t have looked out of place aboard the vessel from 2001: A Space Odyssey," quoting Continental Airlines Magazine. link here

11. JANE GOODALL CELEBRATES HER KNOWLEDGE OF CHIMPANZEES AT AGE 72
"Long hours spent with chimpanzees in the forest have enriched my life beyond measure. What I have learned from them has shaped my understanding of human behavior, of our place in nature....In what terms should we think of these beings, non-human yet possessing so very many human-like characteristics? How should we treat them? Surely we should treat them with the same consideration and kindness as we show to other humans; and as we recognise (sic) human rights, so too should we recognise the rights of the great apes? Yes."
From Ms. Goodall's website, "In the summer of 1960, 26-year-old Jane Goodall arrived on the shore of Lake Tanganyika in East Africa to study the area's chimpanzee population. Although it was unheard of for a woman to venture into the wilds of the African forest, the trip meant the fulfillment of Jane Goodall's childhood dream. Jane’s work in Tanzania would prove more successful than anyone had imagined." [Ed. Mote: Ms. Goodall celebrated her 72nd year of life last month on April 3rd.].

permitting every project leading to the creation of major issues for traffic, water and sewage. This man gave a frank assessment about Yelm's Wal-Mart approval that drew a heated response from Mayor Pro-tem Bob Isom. Rep. Campbell told Mr. Isom this was his meeting, enough of an argument and would give him his due at the end. This did not arise again. link here .
COMMENT
Just 5 days after my Yelm Community blog went public it has become the talk of the town, from a full editorial column in the local newspaper by the publisher and managing editor to a public remark by the mayor pro-tem in the Yelm City Council study session of April 27th about a comment recorded on the blog by a reader.
Wonderful that this blog is creating such discourse!
