UPDATES ARCHIVE FOR FEBRUARY 2003

Update for Week of 3/3/3
I have been made aware in listing links on the previous two Updates for shortwave radios, that we have 2 people locally who are selling these at both ends of the capability/price spectrum: Kirk Diaz at kirkdi@arczip.com sells shortwave radios in the under $200 price range and gets them at a lower price because of volume purchases. And Carroll Cobbs at fermione@ywave.com sells and installs various radio products on the specialty and custom-installation side. I always like to lend support to our local area business people, as they provide knowledge on products and services that support our community, which means less searching on our part.

1. Richard Perle's interview on NBC's MEET THE PRESS on February 23rd drew the most mail I've received on any subject in quite awhile. Perle is the current chair of the Defense Policy Board

advising Defense Secretary Rumsfeld's Pentagon and also a resident Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, which bills itself as a conservative research and "think tank". President Bush is planning a speech there on Wednesday night, February 26 at the same time CBS News will carry Saddam Hussein's interview with Dan Rather. Saddam told Rather he will not go into exile saying he would rather die in his country. Bush will talk about how a post-Hussein Iraq will bring stability to the Middle East. General Tommy Franks has now arrived on scene in the U. S. war command center in Qatar from Tampa to direct a war. President Bush has set a final deadline for 2 weeks, approximately March 14th. Lots of cause for HUM here:
Click HereThe Saddam Interview on CBS: Click Here.

2. I also received an email from a lady that said she thought a "Wag the Dog" scenario was utter fiction until she read many of the links from the latest Update. Further to this, there are two documentaries that may help in accepting the idea that the military-industrial complex does go to war in the interest of acquisition of high value commodities. THE PRIZE-The Epic Quest for Oil, Money & Power by Daniel Yergin is available in book or VHS form and is described as the biology of oil. And, from The History Channel, "Gold, The History of Man's Greatest Obsession" on VHS & DVD. Both are available at Amazon.com: Click Here.

3. Mysterious blasts are occurring daily on the Naval Observatory Grounds in Washington, D. C., home to Vice President Dick Cheney and the work there causing such is "classified". Speculation is that the government is building a security bunker for Cheney. What do they know that we don't know? HUM: Click Here.

4. A Bill has been drafted in the 108th U. S. Congress in January of this year to draft ALL men AND women ages 18-26 into national service (i.e. military service as the needs require). You can read the full document at: Click Here.

5. And lastly on these subjects, war or not, the price rise of oil is taking its toll on the economy and pinching consumers and growth prospects. Got hydrogen?: Click HereAnd the Consumer Confidence Index hit the lowest level in almost 10 years this week with all indexes showing declines, a very unusual occurrence. The President's approval rating on the economy is at 43% and disapproval at 48%: Click Here.

From the world of science: 6. Surgeons of the future could be closing incisions with high-speed jets of living tissue: Click Here.

7. I listed this site here last year, however it is well worth repeating. This starts with a look at the Milky Way at 10 million Light years from Earth and then gets closer in magnitudes of the power of 10: Click Here.

8. A mainstream news magazine has just recently published an article on the CIA's Remote Viewing project called Star Gate, conducted between 1979-1996 at Fort Meade, Md.. Remote Viewing is considered a parapshychological phenomenon using the psychic mind where someone say, in Vermont visualizes a building or location in Australia and describes it in both words and drawings. Newly declassified pages released by the CIA last November (73,000 then, 20,800 under review & 17,700 deemed too sensitive to release) and made available in January, 2003 are written up in The U. S. News & World Report article, which is now in their archives and can be purchased for $2.95 online at: Click HereRarely has any mainstream press acknowledged this CIA project. The Farsight Institute has been conducting remote viewing research since 1995 and has a fabulous site about this work: Click HereAdditionally, the Federation of American Scientists (FAS)site has an excellent article similar to the U. S. News story which can be accessed for free at: Click Here.

9. The second case of Tuberculosis (TB) has been recorded in King County, Washington at The West Seattle High School. "The student has active TB, but it was caught before the student became contagious", according to the KIRO-TV story. EXCUSE ME! As reported, "caught before the student became contagious" is disinformation because according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the National Institutes of Health and I quote, "only people with active disease are contagious" unquote. So what does "caught..." mean? HELLO! Please read the fact sheet for yourself: Click Here.

10. The U. S. Dept. of Energy's Argonne Laboratory researchers have reported this week that they have produced powerful Stem Cells from blood and may revolutionize medical research and transplantation: Click HereThe research is being published in the PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (PNAS): Click Here.

Saddam grants American an Interview
CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather was granted an interview with Saddam Hussein on Monday, February 24th. This is his first interview with someone from the American media in quite awhile. The West gets to see only staged photo sessions between Saddam and his Generals, so this will be the first time that Saddam's mannerisms and personality can be viewed in depth.

CBS News will broadcast the interview here in Puget Sound on KIRO-TV Channel 7 on Wednesday evening, February 26th, on most stations in the Eastern & Pacific Time Zones at 9p.m. on its 60 MINUTES II Program. Special Announcement
This is to bring to your attention the broadcast of NBC"S MEET THE PRESS this weekend, as moderator Tim Russert interviews Richard Perle and Congressman Dennis Kucinich, debating military action in Iraq.

Richard Perle is the current chair of the Defense Policy Board, a civilian advisory panel to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and the Pentagon, made up of leading figures in national security and defense which backs laying the groundwork for overthrowing Saddam Hussein through military means. Names on this Board include but are not limited to Gerald Hillman, Henry Kissinger, Dan Quayle, & James Schlesinger (former CIA chief). Perle is also Resident Fellow of the "think tank" American Enterprise Institute (AEI). An interview with Perle on PBS's FRONTLINE in 2001 follows: Click HereAn article from last summer's EXECUTIVE INTELLIGENCE REVIEW delves into how some of the Bush Administration's policies unfold and is VERY revealing: Click Here.

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (Democrat-OHIO) is a leading advocate for a new Department of Peace in the U. S. government and is outspoken on giving inspections a chance in Iraq and using the U. N. to resolve this crisis peacefully. He states the adminsistration cannot provide any proven aggression against the U. S. by Iraq and on February 12th, 2003 used a House of Representative's procedure to demand evidence of an Iraqi threat. He declared earlier this week he has formed an exploratory committee to check out the viability of a run for President in 2004. The House of Representatives website for him is: Click HereAnd the copy of the official request for Iraqi threat evidence from the administration is found at: Click Here.

This will be a spirited debate and one that can be viewed in Puget Sound on Sunday, February 23, 2003 at 10:00a.m. PST on KING-5 TV. Check your local NBC affiliate for times in your area or you can get a complete transcript of this interview on Monday at Click Here.

Editor's Note: Use your own discernment as to the thrust of the administration's intent in the days to come by listening very carefully to what Perle says and does not say.
Update for Week of February 24, 2003
The 34th President of the USA, Dwight D. Eisenhower delivered his farewell speech to the nation via radio & television on January 17th, 1961, after serving 2 terms to elected office and turning the reins of The White House over to John F. Kennedy, and as the U. S. Army's Commanding General in Europe during World War II. This man was uniquely qualified to warn the nation of the perils of a military-industrial complex, as quoted from his speech, "This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together." These are chilling observations from 40+ years ago that are now self-evident as we prepare to embark down a path toward war. This whole speech serves as a warning to all Americans about dangers of the government/corporation intertwinings and the potential for grave consequences when the public acquiesces their own power because of fear, laziness, ignorance or all of these. I urge you to read the full speech, which can be viewed at: link here

Update for Week of February 19, 2003
As we enter the eve of a potential devastating war that could destabilize the whole Middle East and unleash retaliations here on our soil, let us hope that cooler heads will prevail, as there is no winner in any war. United States Senator Hiram Warren Johnson from California is reported to have said in 1917 on the eve of WWI, "When war is declared, truth is the first casualty." So, if military action is commenced in Iraq, there is a great potential for the American way of life to be changed forever, as this war will possibly end up boiling down to the Judeo-Christian ethic on one side, vs. Islam on the other. A "Holy War" will change the face of people's lives in significant ways, for the rest of their lives.

1. General Norman Schwarzkopf, the commander of the 1991 Gulf War, stated in a Washington Post interview on January 28, 2003 that he is concerned about Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's drive for war. Quote: "Candidly, I have gotten somewhat nervous at some of the pronouncements [Secretary of Defense Donald] Rumsfeld has made. He almost sometimes seems to be enjoying it. That, is a sensation to be avoided when engaged in war. ... When he makes his comments, it appears he disregards the Army...He gives the perception that when he's on TV that is the guy driving the train and everybody else better fall in line behind him,or else." The complete article is found at: Click HereFurther, on Sunday, February 9, 2003, Schwarzkopf was asked about this comment by NBC's MEET THE PRESS Tim Russert and he expanded, quote "And, you know, Napoleon once said I think it was Napoleon who said, You've got to be very careful of war because it's so exciting that you may grow to love it. And that's what we don't need. OK? We need sound military action based upon sound military advice, and I don't think you can disregard your armed services and your service chiefs and that sort of thing." unquote. Very wise counsel, indeed. Ed note: Command can be its own powerful aphrodisiac to some human beings. Here is the complete MEET THE PRESS interview: Click HereAnnounced on Tuesday, February 11th, FEMA recommends that all Americans should have duct tape & plastic sheeting. Update for Week of February 12, 2003
Here is the Updates purpose & intent: For those of you new to this Update, welcome! This evolved after 9/11 when so many sent me requests for an opinion. Rather than answer my view, I sent links to sites that provide ideas and knowledge with which the reader could contemplate and form their own conclusions. This continues to this day. NEVER take my word for anything here. Use you own mind to discern what you will from these links. I provide information on scientific & research, geopolitical, and economic issues. As always, a link is provided and is active at the time of each Update, although may not be at a later time. If you have any comment, you can write to me at: srklein@ywave.com

1. I came to my first event with Ramtha 17 years ago this month seeking to learn about myself amidst a personal crisis. I came to discover a whole new world of understanding that ended up saving my life from an abyss. Part of that teaching was about preservation and learning to rely on my self, rather than the market place. From that, I have gardened, placing the seeds in the dirt myself, canned and put-up my own fruits and vegetables, raised sheep from babies and butchered them for meat, learned about the value of gold & silver vs.cash as a long term safety net, built a well system that would pump water off direct current (DC) from solar panels in the event of a power supply interruption, purchased tools that do not rely on electricity and a whole host of knowledge that I learned from this grand teacher. Although "doom and gloom" were often used to describe such teachings and subsequent preparations, I now know that Ramtha's students are some of the best prepared anywhere for these challenging times, with this knowledge, even if not incorporating all of this information into their own lives. So, we are at a place that Ramtha's suggestions are, indeed, ringing true. On Friday, February 7th, USA Homeland Security Chief Tom Ridge warned all Americans everywhere to prepare for an emergency and I quote, "We do recommend that individuals and families, in the days ahead, take some time to prepare for an emergency. And, it's probably not a bad idea to sit down and just arrange some kind of a contact plan. That's not a bad thing to do to prepare in advance of any kind of (an) emergency, whether it's a natural disaster or a terrorist attack". If there should be any kind of attack on U. S. soil, the distribution system would likely be impacted and some groceries and supplies may be unavailable. Acquiring canned food and bottled water would be a wonderful way to start preparing today. You may call this doom and gloom now, yet these are our government officials stating this now. You may never need these supplies, however, wouldn't you wish you had them if you and your families did need them. The shelves are well stocked now, but can be emptied in an hour as I so witnessed in 1973 when Hurricane David shifted and headed toward Miami, where I then lived, just 200 miles off shore. I saw 2 grown adults argue over the last gallon of bottled water on the shelf, as the stores were cleared of everything in hours. Heed this warning from Homeland Security Chief Ridge and ask yourself, "what does he know, that I do not know". Government Officials and their families in Washington, D. C. have facilities filled with huge supplies of food, water, & medicines deep in the West Virginia mountains. The sky may be shining to you now, yet storm clouds are on the horizon. I was always taught as a child to prepare for a "rainy day". This is the full story from which Chief Ridge is quoted: Click HereAnd from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), a report on preparing a disaster plan: Click HereAnd a FEMA report titled "How to Protect You & Your Family": Click HereAnd, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is pushing for a "dirty bomb" treatment: Click Here.

A communications encryption device from the Columbia is being searched for. Ed. note: when found, it will never be heard about again: Click HereB. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting a local man photographed the shuttle showing a mysterious purple streak hitting it 7 minutes before the crash. Hum, over San Francisco? 4. In a little noted news item, the U. S. Treasury warned the country on Wednesday, February 5th that it's near the debt limit on its borrowing authority, meaning it must ask Congress to raise the debt ceiling or this country would be in default. Congress has always acted within the time limit and will this time, too. You will foot the tab: Click Here.
