ABOUT THIS SITE
For those of you new to this website, welcome! Unlimited imaginations are the hallmarks of great minds.

This website and Kleiner's Korner mailings list sites of happenings in the world that do not make the front pages.

As a student of Ramtha's School of Enlightenment, my intent has been to provide recent news from the mainstream media that support what we have been taught by our teacher Ramtha. "The four cornerstones of Ramtha's teachings are:
  1. The statement "You are God"
  2. The directive to make known the unknown
  3. The concept that consciousness and energy create the nature of reality
  4. The challenge to conquer yourself,"
quoting Ramtha.com. Bottom line: We are all Creators of our reality. Reports from the fields of science, quantum physics, medicine, history, the environment, Earth changes, and humanity are among topics covered each week that provide corroboration to the studies of Ramtha's School . In communicating with students the world-over, these pages are then passed along to our friends and families for them to read for themselves stories we find of interest.

Never take my word for anything here. Use your own mind to discern what you will from your own readings.

KLEINER'S KORNER FOR WEEK OF May 12, 2008
Follow-up to a recent story:

"DNA Helps Free Inmate After 27 Years"

"But Woodard refused to admit guilt. "I wasn't guilty," he says.

"You chose truth over freedom," Pelley remarks.

"I mean, a man has to stand for something," Woodard says.

James Woodard became the 17th prisoner in Dallas to be set free after a wrongful conviction. He walked from the courthouse into a hometown he could no longer recognize. At 27 years and four months, he became the longest serving inmate in the nation to be cleared with the help of DNA. The Dallas D.A.'s office and The Innocence Project of Texas are still investigating another 250 cases," quoting CBS News 60 Minutes which aired May 4. link here

1. MEET MOLLY THE HORSE WITH AN ARTIFICIAL LEG!
"Now, my friends, meet Molly. She’s a gray-speckled "POA" pony who was abandoned by her owners when Katrina hit southern Louisiana. She spent weeks on her own before finally being rescued and taken to a farm where abandoned animals were stockpiled. While there, she was attacked by a pit bull terrier, and almost died. Her gnawed right front leg became badly infected and her vet went to the veterinariansa at Louisiana State University (LSU) for help.

But after the local veterinarian persisted, LSU surgeon Rustin Moore agreed to meet Molly, and that meeting changed his mind. He saw how the pony was careful to lie down on different sides so she didn't seem to get sores, and how she allowed people to handle her raw, infected limb. When she stood up, she protected her injured leg. She constantly shifted her weight, and didn’t overload her good leg. She was a smart pony with a serious survival ethic.

Moore agreed to remove her leg below the knee and a temporary artificial limb was built. The Humane Society of the United States and Lifesavers Inc. (an animal-angel arm of Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue in California) provided the funds for the operation. Molly walked out of the clinic and her story really begins there," quoting Hoofblog.

2. "ONE MAN'S QUEST TO WALK AGAIN"
"Editor's note: Paralysis after a spinal cord injury brings wrenching decisions: Do you accept it as permanent and adapt, or do you refuse to resign yourself? John and Marci Pou took the latter course after his accident, embarking on an arduous quest for rehabilitation, recounted in a three-part serial narrative. Part I tells how the couple chose to gamble on a different kind of therapy. First of three parts," quoting the AP. link here
.

3. "IT'S NOT IMMORAL TO WANT TO BE IMMORTAL"
"Is it right to want to try to live forever? This ethical question is being kicked around quite a bit these days.

As the science of regenerative medicine using stem cells inches forward, as more is understood about how lifestyle influences longevity, as organ and tissue transplants become routine and as geneticists begin to unravel the secrets of why we age, the prospect of living forever — or at least until the Cubs win a pennant — makes the question something more than an exercise in science fiction.

What is particularly interesting is that many of those raising the question of the ethics of immortality do so with an answer already in mind — 'No, it’s not right!'" quoting Arthur Caplan, Ph.D.

4. "MOVING CLOSER TO A 'MATRIX'-STYLE VIRTUAL WORLD"
"What if a computer could make you a picture-perfect glass of milk, let you feel the tension as it pulled an ant’s leg from another room, and chat you up with the charisma of Oprah Winfrey? No one machine can do all three — yet. But some sophisticated new projects are showing just how far we’ve come toward creating an “I can’t believe it’s not real” virtual world.

Last month, Brookhaven National Laboratory computer scientist Michael McGuigan told New Scientist magazine he believed a “Matrix”-style virtual world, in which one cannot always distinguish between what’s real and what’s not, could be up and running in just a few years. His optimism derived in part from the impressive ramp-up in processing speed he obtained with the lab’s BlueGene/L supercomputer while running a conventional ray-tracing software program that mimics the effect of natural light.

The result? An eye-fooling virtual beam,"quoting MSNBC.

5. "CAN YOU BECOME A CREATURE OF NEW HABITS?"
"HABITS are a funny thing. We reach for them mindlessly, setting our brains on auto-pilot and relaxing into the unconscious comfort of familiar routine. “Not choice, but habit rules the unreflecting herd,” William Wordsworth said in the 19th century. In the ever-changing 21st century, even the word “habit” carries a negative connotation.

So it seems antithetical to talk about habits in the same context as creativity and innovation. But brain researchers have discovered that when we consciously develop new habits, we create parallel synaptic paths, and even entirely new brain cells, that can jump our trains of thought onto new, innovative tracks.

Rather than dismissing ourselves as unchangeable creatures of habit, we can instead direct our own change by consciously developing new habits. In fact, the more new things we try — the more we step outside our comfort zone — the more inherently creative we become, both in the workplace and in our personal lives.

But don’t bother trying to kill off old habits; once those ruts of procedure are worn into the hippocampus, they’re there to stay. Instead, the new habits we deliberately ingrain into ourselves create parallel pathways that can bypass those old roads," quoting the New York Times.

6. "FORBIDDEN MESSAGES IN FAMOUS FRESCOES"
"They say that Michelangelo embedded powerful and even dangerous messages in the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel, that he encoded these messages using his knowledge of mystic Jewish texts and that he intended some images as insults to the pope....

'In the late 1970s, a surgeon went into the Sistine Chapel, took a look at this [fresco]. He said to himself, wait, this is Anatomy 101.… This is actually a cross-section of the brain, the right hand side of the brain,' Blech said," quoting ABC News.

7. PARENTS CREATE ALTERNATIVES TO EARBUDS THAT ARE CAUSING A GENERATION OF HEARING IMPAIRED
"Christine Ingemi, with four children under the age of 11, faced a future of hearing music in quadraphonic sound, even though her kids wore earbuds with their iPods. They played their music loud, and she could easily hear it.

“I had the same battle every mother has, always trying to tell them to turn it down,” she said. “I just couldn’t really do anything to prevent it.”

So the New Hampshire mom got mad — and got an idea at the same time. She came up with earbuds that limit the volume from the music player to a safer level. Three thousand miles away, in California, another parent, Ken Wright, came up with a different concept for earphones after being concerned about his 13-year-old daughter’s hearing when she cranked up her iPod," quoting MSNBC.

8."WCDM WORLD CONFERENCE ON DISASTER MANAGEMENT"
"The Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness is proud to present the 18th World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM). The 2008 Conference theme will be: "Resiliency - Individual, Community and Business" Our thanks to the more than 1,800 Disaster Management professionals from 42 countries who attended the 17th WCDM. These professionals took advantage of our unique venue to present, network and learn. 10. FOLLOW-UP TO LAST WEEK'S BIRTHDAYS STORY: "HAPPY [90TH] BIRTHDAY MIKE"
"We don't ordinarily do birthdays here on 60 Minutes but this is sort of special. Friday [May 9] will be Mike Wallace's 90th birthday. That may seem pretty old to you but if you meet Mike on the street, don't bet you can beat him around the block because he's still in better shape than most men at 40...

One of the things that this broadcast does best is illicit information from interesting people and in the brief history of television, no one has ever done that better than Mike Wallace.

I don't know if a list of interesting names is interesting or not but I was amazed to see a list of the people Mike has interviewed. Here are just a few of them: Richard Nixon, Johnny Carson, Henry Kissinger, Nancy Reagan, Larry King, Jimmy Carter, Bette Davis, Yasser Arafat, Eddie Arcaro, Frank Lloyd Wright, Carol Burnett, Bill Parcells, Salman Rushdie, Vladimir Putin, Al Sharpton, Vladimir Horowitz, Donald Trump, Jack Kevorkian, Malcolm X, Roger Clemens, Tennessee Williams, Tallulah Bankhead, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Oscar Hammerstein, Woody Allen, Eleanor Roosevelt, Martina Navratilova, Jesse Jackson, The Shah of Iran, Golda Meir," quoting Andy Rooney on 60 Minutes.

3. "WOUNDED VET PLAYS LACROSSE AFTER LOSING LIMBS”
“John Fernandez should not have been playing lacrosse Saturday in the Army-Navy alumni game at Madison Square Garden.
By all rights, the former U.S. Army first lieutenant should be dead. But luck intervened.
“It was just a matter of chance — pure luck,” said Fernandez of Shoreham, Long Island, who was severely wounded in Iraq after a U.S. plane dropped a 500-pound bomb on his Humvee in a case of friendly fire on April 3, 2003. Shrapnel from the explosion shredded his legs...
More than five years later, the soldier can do more than just walk. He can play lacrosse thanks to prosthetic limbs, as he demonstrated during the Heroes Cup, which preceded the New York Titans professional game Saturday night,” quoting the AP. link here

5. “JOLTING THE BRAIN FIGHTS DEEP DEPRESSION”
“Imagine what a pacemaker does to your heart: Its electrical impulses regulate a heartbeat that's out of whack.
Now picture a pacemaker-type device that jolts the brain and regulates mood circuits, potentially easing deep depression no other treatments can touch.
In what some are hailing as a brave new use of existing technology, researchers presented evidence this week at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons' annual scientific meeting that deep brain stimulation does just that, improving both severe depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder, a frequent companion disorder,” quoting CNN.

6. “STUDENT EDUCATES HIMSELF: LOSES 180 POUNDS”
“Around the same time, he had another wake-up call. His 11-year-old cousin was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and his grandmother was diagnosed with Type 2, or adult onset diabetes. Their diagnoses combined with a family history of obesity to convince Hollas he had to make a change.
That very same day in 2001, he took the first step toward weight loss by eliminating soft drinks from his diet.
Hollas [Brandon Hollas, 25, of Cameron, Texas] also joined the recreation center on campus and started riding an exercise bicycle. He lost 50 pounds within six months. The weight loss motivated him to begin learning about health and fitness at the school's library and in men's health magazines.
‘I wasn't educated about how to eat right or how to lose weight,’ Hollas recalled. ‘I read all about nutrition, how to change meals to make them [healthier],’" quoting CNN.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single
thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical
path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think
over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives."
